HP printer says cartridges cannot move--they do. And remove metallic tape which I have. I cannot print

Please follow the steps below to install the Cartridge:

Install or replace the print cartridges

1. Turn the printer on. The cartridge cradle will not move if the power is not on.
2. Open the printer cover. Figure 1: Printer cover open
3. Wait until the print cartridge cradle moves to the center of the printer and is idle and quiet.
4. If you are replacing a print cartridge, press down on the print cartridge to be replaced, and then slide it out of the print cartridge cradle. If you are installing print cartridges for the first time, go to the next step.
   NOTE: HP recommends using a print cartridge protector to store an opened print cartridge for later use. Figure 2: Print cartridge being inserted into a print cartridge protector
5. Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and carefully remove the plastic tape. Hold the print cartridge so that the copper strips are on the bottom and facing toward the printer. Figure 3: Removing the protective tape
   CAUTION: Do not touch the print cartridge ink nozzles or copper contacts. Touching these parts will result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections. Do not remove the copper strips. 6. Slide the print cartridge at a slight upward angle into the cradle until the cartridge snaps into place. Figure 5: Installing the print cartridge
7. Repeat steps 3-4 for the remaining print cartridge.
8. Close the printer cover. The printer automatically prints a calibration page.

1. Remove the packing material from the printer.

• 1. Remove the all orange tape from the outside of the printer.
  
• Remove orange tape from paper tray 2.
• Remove the orange packing tape from inside paper tray 3.
• Remove the spacer from inside the print cartridge area.

1. Load all paper trays.
2. 1. Pull the paper trays completely out of the printer.
   
3. Press the blue tab on the rear paper length guide and adjust the rear guide so that the pointer matches the size of the paper to be loaded.
4. Move the side width guides outward to match the desired paper size.
5. Add the media to the paper trays, make sure that it is flat in the tray at all four corners. Keep the media below the height tabs on the sides and rear of the tray. Push down on the metal lift plate to lock it in place.
6. Slide the trays back into the printer.
7. Install the print cartridge.
8. 1. Remove the print cartridge from the packaging.
   
9. Rock the print cartridge back and forth several times to "mix" the toner.
10. Pull the sealing tape from the end of the print cartridge to remove the entire length of the tape.
11. Open the top cover.
12. Slide the print cartridge into the unit.
13. Close the print cartridge door.
14. Connect the LAN cable (optional). (HP LaserJet 2420n, 2420dn, 2430tn, and 2430dtn models only)
15. Connect the power.

Follow these steps to install the printer cartridge :

Make sure the HP printer is turned on. Open the print carriage access door. Wait for the carriage to stop moving.

Remove the old cartridge from the print carriage.

Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging. Being careful to touch only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pull tabs. Make sure you've removed all of the tape.

Slide the new print cartridge into the empty slot in the print carriage. Push the print cartridge forward until it clicks into place. Press down on the latch until it is securely closed.

Close the print-carriage access door. Print a test page to make sure your new cartridge is properly aligned.

Step seven: Install the print cartridges
NOTE: The product must be on before you can insert the print cartridges.

1. Open the print cartridge door. Figure 7: Opening the print cartridge door
2. Make sure the print carriage moves to the right. If it does not move to the right, turn the device off, then turn it back on again.
3. Open the packaging and remove the tape from both cartridges. Figure 8: Removing the tape CAUTION: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or re-tape the cartridges.
4. Hold the cartridges with the HP logo on top.
5. Insert tri-color cartridge in the left cartridge slot and the black cartridge in the right cartridge slot . Figure 9: Inserting the print cartridges
6. Push the cartridge firmly into the slot until it snaps into place.
7. Close the print cartridge door.

Replacing the print cartridges

1. Turn on the HP Officejet, and lift open the print-carriage access door. The print carriage will move into the access area. Figure 1: Opening the print-carriage access door
2. After the carriage stops moving, push down on the top of the print cartridge to release it, and then pull it toward you out of the slot. Figure 2: Removing the print cartridge NOTE: It is normal to see ink buildup in the print cartridge slots.
3. Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging and gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab. CAUTION: Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles. Install the cartridge immediately upon removing the tape to prevent ink from drying in the nozzles. Figure 3: Removing the plastic tape
4. Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot at a slight angle, until it clicks into place. CAUTION: Do not attempt to push the cartridge straight into the slot. It must slide in at a slight angle. Figure 4: Inserting the print cartridge
5. Close the print-carriage access door.

Aligning the print cartridges The HP Officejet will prompt you to align the print cartridges every time you install a new print cartridge to assure high-quality output.

1. When the message displays, press OK . The HP Officejet will print an alignment page.
2. Place the alignment page face down on the left front corner of the glass with the top of the page facing the left side.
3. Press OK . The HP Officejet will align the print cartridges and display Alignment Complete .

Open the front door and look inside, where the cartridges are installed. Make sure that the carriage is moving freely and doesn't get locked.
