I AM ATTMEPTING TO CONNECT A WIRLESS BACKUP CAMERA AND NEED TO IDENTIFY THE WIRE THAT POWERS THE Backup light - Can you get me the wire color combo plase

To connect an additional unit, find the wires going into the present unit. Turn the backup lights on, clip a single wire test light to a bare spot on the frame or a clean bolt with the alligator clip on the wire, puncture the wires one at a time(there will be 2) to find which is the hot/power wire and connect another wire of red in color to that wire with a connector you squeeze on with pliers. Do the same with a black wire for ground on the other wire. you now have proper "pigtails" to connect the second unit to once it's mounted to wherever you decide to place it. I've done this on a few vehicles in the past and mounted 3 inch work lights to the underside of the bumper. Aim them low if you use this style lamps because you could blind other vehicles with them.

open up the rear bulb compartment cover
and note the color wires running into the reverse light bulb holder

a hand full of fuses as you
use a LED test light or voltmeter to find the right wire

and use those color wires as your power /earth for the reverse camera

or you need the rear loom wiring diagram for that 2006 chev

"Life wire??" I don't know what you mean.
Usually, the backup camera will derive its power from the positive lead of your backup lights, so that it only turns on when you're backing up. You can use a standard wire tap to derive positive (+) from either backup light, and use chassis ground for the negative (-) lead of the camera.

Sorry but we have no wiring diagram here for this car.

You can ground the wire to any unpainted metal surface. Find a screw or bolt, loosen it, put the wire under it and re-tighten.

ASE Mechanic:
with out any schematics you can trace these wires down by finding the reverse lights, and disconnecting the bulb and installing a test light, and with a buddy put in reverse while you check to see which wire gets hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

on a 2000 jeep grand cherokee the violet wire with a black tracer is the power for the backup lamp ...the black is ground
