It can be left on and unattended for 24 hours
as the battery reaches full charge the charge rate is slowed down until it is just working
if however the power to the charger is turned off , there is every possibility that the battery will discharge back through the charger
most ipab, laptop ,phones take around 4 hours to be fully charged from 5% charge

I have a Philishave HS 950/A and am wondering what power Adapter I can use 100-240V to charge. Can you please help?

There are plenty available online but beware of the very cheap Chinese models that mostly will function ok, at least for a while, but they often have interference suppression components missed out and can cause EMI (electromagnetic interference) to nearby radio and tv.
It is also not a good idea to leave them unattended...

Should i leave my camera on the battery charger when i am not using it?

I recommend not leaving it on the charger, especially if unattended. Some chargers get pretty hot and in rare cases malfunction and catch fire. Better to be safe than sorry. I keep an extra battery charged in case I need it.

You could post to the Tablet category and get a solution from a Tablet expert. If it's under warranty return it. Has the Cord/charger been damaged due to pulling on the cord while plugged in causing a short or loose connection? If the "pop" is followed by a electrical burning smell, return or have a Qualified Tech take a look at it, it COULD be a fire issue if left unattended and plugged in.

My computer shows no signs of powering up, but makes a ticking sound when the ac adaptor is plugged in

Try another Cord/charger first.( Beware of Cheap aftermarket cord/chargers/transformers!) The ticking , where is it comming from? Can you locate the origin of the ticking? The HDD, when it's bad, will try to spin-up and you will here a clicking/ticking. If the ticking is coming from the Cord/charger/transformer replace. I bought a spare, universal with plug adapters, for $50.00. Bad charger/transformers CAN be a fire hazzard, if left plug in unattended. Always unplug laptop when unattended, that is if you don't already.

Just bought a Garmin Nuvi 1240 and it says charge for 4 hours before using. I can only see that it has a car charger so does that mean I have to leave it in the car for 4 hours charging? Or have I got to...

You can either charge it in the car for 4 hours connected to the cigarette lighter socket or you can connect it to your computer with the mini USB lead for 8 hours to charge it. There is also a mains charger which has to be bought seperately which takes 4 hours to charge it.

So i lose my Literati charger right after my birthday! I cant find it anywhere and i found my old t mobile charger and it fits perfectly. But i cant tell if its chargeing and it wont turn on! Please help...

Stop!

There are no voltage and amperage "standards" for low voltage connectors found on devices made to run from an external "wall wart" or transformer type charger or adapter. Just because a connector "fits" does not mean the power is 1) the correct voltage 2) correct polarity 3) correct type (AC or DC) or 4) can supply the amount of power needed to operate the device.

You may have done irreversible damage to your device by literally "grabbing any old charger that fits" to power it. Obtain the correct charger - or if unable to find one; determine the characteristics needed by the device - those variables are listed in 1 through 4 above.

You may find adjustable power sources that allow 1) changing of tips to fit the device, 2) a selector to choose from a range of voltages, 3) a switch to select AC or DC output and 4) the ability to plug in the tip backwards so that the polarity reverses. The last thing needed, is to know how much current in amps or power in watts is needed by the device. The charger / adapter should be chosen on its ability to supply this power continuously - never choose a charger / adapter that provides less than any of the electrical requirements; otherwise damage to the charger or device may occur - and if left unattended, could overheat and cause a fire.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.

Draining battery

This camera has had problems with the primary switch block faulting. The camera will power up all by itself when unattended and drain the battery. Another symptom would be the battery refuses to charge fully because the camera must remain in the "OFF" mode for the charge process to begin. Sony in Laredo, TX is replacing these controls at little or no cost, I would call them to see if they will repair this for you. Hope this helps you.
