Re: How can I record a tv show onto a blank disc? I
Make sure you have the right DVD disc and the disc is clean if you do... (2) make sure you connected it right and are fully seated. LINE IN on your DVD-R is for the recorder part LINE OUT on the tv is to send it to the DVD-R If you done that try another RCA cable or two That should fix it
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I've had this problem with trying to record on CD-Rs also. DVD and CD recorders can be very fussy. You just have to get a piece of dust or a fingerprint on the CD or DVD that's being recorded onto and it gets kicked back as a check disc or blank disc..
Another problem is some recorders will only accept certain brands. I've had problems recording onto a SONY CD-R with a SONY recorder! So, in summing up, try a different brand or make sure the disc is clean. Sometimes just taking the disc out and putting it back in in a different position will make the recorder think it's an OK disc. Hope this helps.
I am having the same problem. I can view an external video feed through the Centrios unit on a TV monitor, but as soon as I load a recordable disc, DVD-R type, I lose the video and the LED on the unit never moves beyond loading.
That's because the DVD+R and DVD-R discs are actually different, and the recorder is made to record only on the +R media. It will play back discs recorded by other units on -R discs. But you'll need to purchase the +R type. They are the same price.
Hope you've found this helpful. Please take a moment to rate my solution, and thanks for asking here!
If the player is in VCR mode you will get this problem when loading discs, make sure the light on the front shows dvd. It also happens when trying to record form VHS to DVD in the dubbing menu if you are in DVD mode.
The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!
make sure the cables are connected correctly, the manual will show that.
If the mwr20v6 has a tuner you must have the channel on the dvd set to the program, if it has no tuner, you must have your tv set to the correct channel.
try to clean the video head...just forward a blank new tape 5 times...until the head is being cleaning...dont use a video head cleaner...just think using a sand paper to the head....it damaging the head
