I would try cleaning out the drain line behind the dishwasher, this is a very common problem with draining. If not that then might need a valve or if you have a new garbage disposal you need to punch out a peice of the plastic or it wont drain. Hope this helped, good luck

SOURCE: water does not drain from tub

If this is a Whirlpool top loader as you have this listed under, you need to check your lid switch.

If the washer fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug.

If the switch is not activated by a lid strike, it will activated by a hinge actuator located next to either the left or right lid hinge. You will need to remove the operator console in order to access this type of switch.

If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

A new lid switch (if needed) can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price.

If the lid switch checks good, you can still inspect the drain pump if you like. However, there are no electrical connections on this pump and it only has one moving part - the impeller. They do not commonly clog. The steps for removing the washer casing in the link I provided will give you access to the drain pump. It is located directly below the wash tub on the front. If the tub is full of water, an easy way of draining it is to use a wet/dry shop vac and pull a vacuum on the drain hose. If the water drains freely with no restrictions (if restricted the drain line will collapse from the vacuum), the pump isn't clogged. If you don't own a shop vac, simple gravity will also do the trick by placing the drain line on the floor. However, I wouldn't recommend this unless the washer is in a garage or basement where the water can drain somewhere. Once the tub is drained, you can remove the two drain hoses and check inside the pump for obstructions.

If you have questions, or need additional assistance, please let me know. Please post back with a complete model number (located on a nameplate around the wash tub opening) with your questions, so that I may be able to provide you with better assistance. I hope this is helpful.

NOTE: You do not need to bail or empty the wash tub to complete the repair if replacing the lid switch.

Dishwasher filled and does not drain. I think the dial is faulty; however, how do I drain the water.

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Water won't drain from the tub, think the hose may be clogged. Is there any way to clean the hose without completely dismantling the machine? It does spin but the water won't completely drain out. We...

Hi,

Remove any kinks in the drain hose. Ensure that the washer is not sitting on the hose.

Inspect the household drain. Remove clogs, if possible. Call a plumber if you cannot remove the clogs.

Check the drain and make sure there is an air gap between the hose and drain. An air gap is necessary to prevent the drain hose from siphoning water.

Clean the pump filter. Open the pump access door. Turn the pump filter counter-clockwise and remove it. Remove dirt and debris. Replace the filter and close the pump access door.

Rearrange the clothing in the load. An unbalanced load can prevent the washer from spinning or draining.

Allow the washer to cool down for two hours. If the washer overheats, it will stop the motor and cool down before restarting.

Close the door completely. The washer will not operate if the door is not securely closed.

I hope the above helps.

Good luck.
