Question about Hampton Bay 04345 Cruiser Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

When I try to reverse the direction of the ceiling fan it does not run at all. It runs fine when it is in the directio of blowing toward the ceiling. Also, I have another ceiling fan on which the pull chain for the light has broken off. How do I replace the chain?

Fan only wobbles on high....recently 'bumped'

Check all your screws especially the set screw at top of fan that goes into rod. Blades could be warped from the water. Ball of fan not set in bracket correctly. When your buying a fan, look for blade pitch.13 degree or better is best. You shouldn't have to use the fan on high unless it's a low-end fan with a low blade pitch. It's costing you more money to run the fan on high. Sorry to get so preachy, I'm a fan dealer .

Which way does a ceiling fan need to run in winter

Usually most peopledont want drafts on them in winter so making the fan turn with the edge thats turned down then that is the leading edge

IE say you look at the blade from the bottom
next note the blades are tilted you have to determine which way your blades are mounted. The fans may all be the same or some odd ones may be out there.
say looking up at a blade thTAs 12:00 from you
if the edge thats closer to the floor is on the left the fan turns left from 12:00 or Counter-clock wise to make the air blow toward the ceiling away from you. Reverse for cooling so the air blows on you.
This makes the air move upward.
If your ckoser edge is on the opposite side the fan turns opposite..
the edge thats turned down toward you is the direction of travel for winter
In small rooms with larger fan the air may make such a quick change that it feels like it blows on you in either direction.

After researching the complaints on this product I found that the reverse mode can be intermittent, the high speed can be slow at best and the returns of this product back to the store are staggering. Get a new but different model.

Ceiling fan won't blow any air

if its turning its either sucking or blowing air. There is a switch or a pull cord to reverse it. prove it to yourself with something light like a feather or piece of paper or balloon.

Unable to reverse Thomasville ceiling fan rotation w/remote

I e-mailed Thomasville Lighting after my original post but did not get a reply. I then searched and found a similar problem on this site (http://www.fixya.com/support/t187540-ceiling_fan_not_reverse_remote) and read the Best Solution which mentioned running the fan at medium speed (not low), then pressing the Reverse Direction button....it worked. As stated in the original suggestion, this was very counterintuitive and not documented in the manual.

I have found the right solution to the fan not working in the right direction. the problem is that is a pcs of trash, i ripped mine off the ceiling and tossed it out the window and guess what it, it flew...

Did you hit the reverse direction switch located on the upper fan body. Upward direction is for winter as it blows up toward the ceiling pushing rising heat out towards walls and down to floor. Downward direction sucks heat off ceiling (summer months) and pushes cooler air that is on the ground toward the ceiling, thus giving a cooler airflow. You do know that there is a little black switch up there, right?

Had a ceiling fan with dual purpose, one to blow air upwards durng the cooler months and one downwards during warmer mos. unable to set the fan to blow air downwards.

Explain set it. Generally there is a switch on the fan to reverse, are you attempting reversing by that switch or a wired in wall switch? If it runs in one direction it will run in the other. Something in the control is broken or not wired correctly.
