On the test print paper there should be a set of numbers there (prints automatically after align print head is done), these will need to be added into the prompt that comes up in screen after "set value" shows up, but unless a major rebuild has just been done to machine I find this is rarely needed to be done < I just select skip or done to exit that mode

Canon i960 printer banding on photos. How can I eliminate this? I have cleaned the print head, re aligned the print nozzle. Now what?

The FAQS for your printer suggest for your problem (banded or strewaked prints) you perform this actions:
  • Perform a manual print alignment
  • Perform a deep print head cleaning
  • Check if all orange tape was removed from print ink tank(s)
  • Select correct Media Type Settings for the paper you are using
  • Change the print quality settings.
If you need guidance on how to perform any of these actions, go to the support page of your printer:

Will it mess up my printer if i pulled the paper out

No. But, do this while the power is off. And get a firm grip on the center of the paper and pull with increasing constant pressure until the paper come out. You don't want to risk tearing the paper. Should that happen, open the cover and see if you can't pull it out backwards. In fact, if there is more paper stickng out the top than the front, pull it out from that direction.

After you get the paper out, remove the paper from the feed tray. Turn the printer on and let it go through its startup diagnostic (that's what all the commotion and noise is about when you turn it on.) Once complete, add some paper to the tray and from either the LCD Panel menu options, run the print head alignment test and set the values according to what lines line up exactly and punch those numbers in. The print head alignment test may also be available to you from the printer's program menu tools or from the Start Menu, Printers and when your printer shows up in the box, right click your printer, choose Properties and there may be a set of tools from there that will run the print head alignment test.

That's the long and short of it, Yes, pull it out from above, from the feed tray or from the front, whichever has the most paper exposed. Then run the print head alignment test to reset the alignment.

Regards,
Worldvet
