Hiya, its the cone. The former is touching the magnet inside. Realignment is really tricky and dont know many people who can do that so you may either have to live with it or see if someone can recone it in your area.

Best of luck

I am experiencing loud popping and crackling sound at high volume after speaker is warmed up. Speaker cones move smoothly when pushed gently by hand. Sound almost seems to be coming from inside.

Sounds like it could either be the crossover circuit or a distorted speaker cone. The cone is the easy one to check. You need to check that it moves freely at all points. It sounds like you have partly done this, but you just need to make certain you went all the way around the cone checking for free movement.
However I don't think it is the cone, because of the slow way it acts up. That could be the crossover circuit. If you have a look at it and see either an IC or transistor looking parts, then I would have thought it would be one of them acting up - presumably getting hot!
If you can have the speaker outputting sound, with access to the crossover, you could spray these parts (one at a time if there is more that one) with Servisol Freezer spray. You simply wait till the fault develop then spray the suspect part. If it returns to normal you have located the faulty part. If nothing happens, wait till the coolant wears off then try the next suspect.
Places like Maplin stock the Freezer spray.

Integrated amplifier for Mordaunt-Short Avant 908i

Use an amplifier with NO MORE than 150 Watts per channel or you be buying new speakers. At this power level don't expect booming bass boost without damaging the speakers. The Rotel generates 130 per side which is very near the safe maximum for those speakers... and the specs look good. If you are not satified with the sound, the speakers are LIKELY the problem. Look at getting good commercial speaakers instead of CONSUMER grade speakers. Go to a music store dealing with bands and musicians and view the products they have to offer. Consumer speakers often fail when people turn up too much bass. At high listening levels hearing damage can result.

When reaching some bass or volume levels, the amp makes a huge buzz, i`ve tried the speakers in other amps and they work really nice. When that happens, the channel light tilts, the same happens with my...

You are "flatopping" which means the amps are saturating at the two extremes of voltage output. The speaker cone goes to the extremes and can't go any farther and the cone will rattle at each end of its excursion. I would reduce the bass so you don't get into this situation lest you damage the amp and or speakers. They probably have an indicator that you have reached this clipping level... it is a warning... best to heed it... amps and repairs are expensive.

My mordaunt-short avant 908i front left speaker aluminum tweeter stopped working... no sound coming out, however two midrange speakers functioning just fine.

I had similar problems my tweeter was blowen and it had to be replaced... I actually blew the speaker many times using a NAD amp as there were spikes coming from the amp. I changed the amp to a Marantz PM7200 and have had no problems since.

I can't get bass thru the spkrs

So when you aren't using the sub woofer there's not enough bass, so you need more out of the other speakers. Chances are the front speakers are set to "small" in the receivers menu, change it to "large"if your front speakers have a 6 inch woofer or larger. Note: If you leave the sub on, the input signal to it will be greatly reduced when the speakers are set to "large". Hope this helps.

Mordaunt Short Avant 309i subwoofer set-up

Lots of ways. To set it up properly you will need a decibel meter, Radio Shack makes a nice one. With the meter volume can easily be set as well as phase. I'm assuming frequency is the crossover frequency, generally set at 80Hz. This one involves some trial and error as I am not familiar with your speakers. Don't know much about the notch filter. A good resource for setting up subs can be found at: http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/bfd-rew-forum/index3.html
