Question about Kenmore 12912

1 Answer

Model # invalid on parts/accessories sites

Machine still in box, with sales info etc. Label on box says dept 20 stock # 12912. Metal tag on machine says 385. 12912, serial # 91004591. I have checked the kenmore parts site, and it tells me that there is no such model. I purchased this 30 stitch function machine in 1999. Perhaps there is a trick to putting in the # that I am unaware of.

What is the going selling cost of a Singer, model # 1019 machine?

You would need to search for recent sales or current sales (ie eBay, etsy...) to make that determination. There is a lot involved in determining value, ie the working and visual condition of the machine, accessories included, where it's located, etc. FWIW, newer Singers are probably not worth a lot in resale. New machines can be purchased for less than $100.

I cannot find my model/serial number on my Singer Sewing Machine.

Sometimes the model is actually part of the name, ie Janome Jem. Other machines will have a a metal tag or label somewhere on the machine and some of the information on the tag contains the model and serial number. Some older machines will have the number actually stamped into the case or on the underside of the machine.

Singer made a lot of machines for many years, so you may need to look at photos of Singer machines on the internet. Or, you can take a photo or the actual machine to a sewing repair shop and they may be able to tell you where to look and what model it is.

try changing the needle--one for the fabric being sewed
also the zig zag could have a worn or damaged gear or cam
or there could be a timing problem.

Sewing machine Jolson model 2500 , who makes it.

Look for markings on the underside or the word "happy"

Many sewing machines were made by happy sewing machine company in the late 50s and branded for department stores, etc. Without seeing your machine that is the best info I can provide.

I need a manual

Which brand and model do you have? Singer has many of their manuals (Singer or White brands) for sale or download at http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals . For Janome, Bernina or Husqvarna Viking manuals, ask at a dealer. Many of the older manuals may be free - at least for Bernina manuals. Brother has a some of their manuals on their support site: http://www.brother-usa.com/manuals/#.T2e8Wdk_9G8 . Use the drop-down menu to select Home or Industrial Sewing machine and then look for the model. A machine sold at Sears (such as the Kenmore line) may have the manual at Manage My Life: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals . Unfortunately, they don't have many of their older sewing machine manuals online.

There are also sewing machine parts sites that may have the manuals for sale.

Please add a comment with the make and model of your sewing machine and I'll try to provide more information.

Tension problem?

On the back of the machine near where the foot pedal plus in should be a metal tag with the numbers on it. As for a manual, try this..
