There could only be a few things that would not let the clippings be picked up. One is that the pickup area could be block with clippings. Two your cut setting is to high not allowing for vacuum to be formed to **** up grass. Third you have the wrong blade on machine that doesnt allow mower to push grass into bagger. Forth you are using an extension cord that is to long or to small in gauge. If you cord is long then the mower will not run at full capacity, causing motor to run slower than is needed to bag clippings. Try a heavier cord, or a shorter cord.

Grass catcher

What I would do Wayne is contact Ariens through the web site or at their dealership and see if one may be placed on your mower. Each manufacturer has their own set up for grass catchers, so I have not seen one the fits all. If you don't get anywhere Wayne, think about buying a lawn sweeper that is attached the the rear of you mower. If you purchase a good one, you will be very happy with it's performance. I hope that helps you out in some manner.

Wierd grass catcher problem

There are a couple of causes for this. Is the blade height the same on the new mower? Higher blade height could cause a lot of the grass to be blown out from under the deck, and not into the catcher chute.

On the trailing edge of the mower blades is a small 'wing' for lack of a better term. There are two types of blades, mulching blades that have a lower 'wing', while catcher blades that have a slightly higher 'wing' but it makes a difference.

If the season has been hot lately, the grass may not be growing as fast, hence less clippings, and less dense grass could also cause this.

Lawnboy model 10640 walk-behind mower pull cord will not retract. I've removed the plastic engine covering, removed the top bolts of the gas tank and rotated the tank back. With the flywheel cover being...

I have the exact same problem. I read on another site that the blowout hole in the back of the mower where the grass goes into the catcher must be cleared of any grass or dirt. I don't use the grass catcher and indeed the hole was full of dirt and grass. I cleared out what I could with my hands and a screwdriver, and magically somehow the cord retracted about a foot. Enough to start the mower with. It still doesn't retract all the way, but it was an improvement. I may have worn out the spring pulling and tugging on it trying to get it to retract, but ok for now.
Please share if you find a more permanent solution. Mower is barely a year old.

Own a Troy Bilt self-propelled model #12A-466-M011 for a year now. It worked great when first got it. Now it will not clear the grass underneath so cuts off every 15 feet and have to manually clear grass...

I had the same problem with my Troy-Bilt self propelled lawn mower. You have to use the grass catcher if your grass is high. Also, I mowed wet grass and it made my belt slip off the pulley and created a new problem, somowing wet grass is definitely not a good idea.

grass will build up over time on the underside of the deck possibly impairing the flow of the clippings. I use a flat screwdriver to scrape the big clumps of grass off the underside.

Mower started smoking, then stopped working.

Try to see if there is any oil in it. Or maybe your belt is clogged. A good cleaning and maybe a change of plug may help.
