1.If the switch slider is stuck from sliding by the laptop's case somehow, you open the laptop, and free it. Then see what transpired making this happen.

2.Upon opening the laptop, and finding that the switch itself is broken, (Mechanism inside the switch has broken), you remove the switch by unsoldering it, and then replace it.

3.You take it to a qualified computer repair shop, and have them do it.
My money is on the switch mechanism has broken inside the switch, and needs replacing.

If you need the Maintenance and Service Guide, in order to open the laptop to service this switch, here it is,
(It states -> Guide <-, but it is really a comprehensive manual, with printed instructions and illustrations. It's free, and comes directly from

On this page scroll down to ->
HP Pavilion dv7 Entertainment PC - Maintenance and Service Guide <-, and click on it. (It's in Blue)
This is a PDF file download. You have Adobe Reader on your computer which uses PDF files.

After you click on the above, you may not see anything happening for up to 30 seconds. Be patient as it is downloading to your computer. You may see the first page after 10 seconds.
I advise waiting until it has Fully downloaded, before looking through it. You may break the download connection if you don't.

Should you wish to save this PDF file to your computer, (So you can view it anytime you want without having to wait for a download, and also so you can burn a copy off to a CD disk), go to the top header, and click on the Floppy Disk icon.

The Floppy Disk icon is the second icon from the left. Hovering your mouse cursor on it will briefly reveal, "Click to save this file to your computer or another location".

If you don't have your downloads set to go to your My Documents folder, (Start>My Documents), this file will go to your desktop screen. Just double-click on it to open it.

    Forgot to add.
1.Before you open the laptop make sure the AC adapter, (Charger), isn't connected, and the battery is removed.

2.Buy and wear an ESD, (ElectroStatic Discharge), wrist strap. These are cheap. Make sure the alligator clip is clipped to a good ground. (Example of ESD wrist strap:

3.Use a holder for the various screws that you will remove. I use a clean egg carton, and label each egg holder for the screws. I label the egg holder for each area. There may be 10 different sizes and threads, plus all the area they come out of. (LED cover strip, keyboard, top case, screw from out of the bottom case, and so on)

4.You may want to use a digital camera, plus make notes and drawings for your first time in doing this. Make a record as you disassemble. Makes it easier when it's reassembly time.

My wlan switch stuck in the off position. if you pry off the cheap plastic switch, you will find 2 tiny prongs.1 of mine had broken. it was easy, and much simpler than any of the above ideas,to use a pin to move the switch to the on position. i just leave it there. if you really want to turn it off, click on the wlan icon and turn it off with the software link. its crazy to take the case apart for this

Hp pavillion dv6-2155dx keeps buffering and won't play videos correctly

Are you connecting wireless or wired connection. Have you updated your flash player? Which browser are you using? Do you keep your computer cleaned up from internet browsing? If your browser is up to date and so it your flash player then more than likely it could be the internet connection. If you are running it wireless try plugging it in to the router with a cable and check it. Another thing would be to check for a virus.

I need an internal pin out diagram for a 4 Pin connector to connect power supply to a hp pavillion f70 monitor. I do have a power supply with same specs but it has a normal plug with outer as +ve and Inner...

12 VDC , 4.16 A (4,16 A) Frequency: 50/60 Hz Power Consumption: less than 36 W in operating mode.
I think the other two pins are not used. It just requires the 12 Volts DC. +ve and -ve, positive and negative, respectively.

None of my quick touch buttons work. HP Pavillion dv9000

My thoughts is that you may have had a Microsoft update to which has knocked out your drivers for these features. You may have to go back to HP's Web site and re-load the drivers for these two features.

No sound on my palm centro

There is a switch inside of the jack that sometimes can get stuck you have a few things you can try.

- Try to insert the jack and remove it slowly, the sometimes unsticks the switch.

- Try using a small bit of WD40 on a paperclip or similar small item in the jack to lubricate/unstick the switch.

If neither of those work there is an application you can download called headcold that lets you override the switch.

HP Pavillion wireless won't work

First, look thru HP Health check and download all recommended.
Second, go to HP site, download and reinstall WLAN driver and HP Wireless assistant software
Third, download at the same site HP WinFlash BIOS Update and update BIOS (READ and FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY)

If you are lucky ;-)  WLAN will now works - try to switch it on by WLAN switch.
