Kenmore Model #110 - Clothes becoming spotted with rust

My clothes are becoming spotted with a rusty color. I recently replaced my inlet valve and hoses, do you think the water pressure is too high or I need a new tub because my machine is old? Please advise.

I have a Kenmore series 80 Model 110 washer that drips inot the tub after the cycle. It's not a problem if I get the clothes out immediately. The leak seems to be getting worse. Any ideas on a solution?

Replace the water inlet valve on the back where the water hoses connect to the washer. It isn't sealing good. You may have to remove the top to access it.

Rust Problem

that is not the cause of the brown spots, the front or rear felt is worn out, i've seen the rusty inlet and output for 19 yrs and never saw that cause brown spots yet, your clothes will never come into contact with the holes long enough to cause a spot!

WE FIND RUST STAINS ON SOME OF THE CLOTHES AFTER THE WASH CYCLE IS COMPLETE. wE HAVE A 5 YEAR OLD FRONT LOADER AND THERE IS NO IRON IN OUR WATER SUPPLY

Remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens inside the ports on the water inlet valve. Make sure they are clear of rust and debris. These screens have been known to become very rusty due to element levels in the water at some locations and will put rust spots on clothing. Hope this helped and best wishes.

If you wash your clothes with warm or hot water, try using ONLY cold to see if the problem goes away. Sometimes older water heaters start to produce rusty-colored water as they age.

Kenmore Washing Machine - no cold water coming in

most likely cuase would be the inlet valve
you would need the complete model number to make sure you get the right part for that unit.

Leaking Cold Water Shut off valve going into washer drum

You have a bad valve. Tell the appliance dealer that you need a solenoid switch for your cold water inlet. It is only about 15 dollars. It is also pretty easy to replace.

Rusty stains on all white clothes washed

I don't think the washer is at fault; the clue is 'Used very little.' I think the rust is originating in the water pipes serving the washer. The only help there is to run one machine with no clothes in it (wasting water) or putting splitters on the faucets and flushing the lines into a sink or other drain. To remove rust stains from WHITE (!) clothing and many synthetics, buy a product named 'Whink.' It is available in many drug stores, super markets, etc. in the area where one finds other laundry items.  It is fairly safe to use (with precautions) but keep out of reach of kids.

Rust stains and bleach spots.

I'm sorry but the white spots will be due to bleach. It may be that there was undissolved bleach in the washer after the first load. Maybe some of it came out with the whites and lay in wait in the basket.

I doubt the makers would guarantee anything for 7 years, so no free basket or installation is likely. Seems there is a chip in the enamel and dampness / water from the previous wash days before sits there collecting iron as rust particles.

For the time being you could try rinsing the machine out before the first load. That might prevent the rust marks or reduce them.
