Question about Dell Inspiron 2650 Notebook

3 Answers

The computer is not recognizing the Linksys wireless card. When the card gets plugged in, it lights up like usual, but now the computer is not recognizing it at all. It used to appear in the bottom right corner with my available networks. Now, nothing appears. Any assistance you can offer would be much appreciated.

That the Card sees another wireless router tells me the Card/Adapter is receiving properly and if
configured properly it should also receive your network router.
Receiving another Router simply means that your Card is set to its' Channel. Therefore the problem is
probably configuration. All wireless devices require this for a successful connection
1. Use the same Network name (BSSID)
2. Use the same Channel
3. Use the same Password and Encryption
4. Set for the same wireless Network Type (Infrastructure or Peer to Peer) The terminology often
changes.
For Windows -- Open the "network connections" Page
Select "Create a new connection" to open the "Connection Wizard"
Choose " Connect to a Private Network" then Continue
There is also this route to connecting to your Network if config is correct.
Control Panel -> System -> Computer Name -> Network ID
Lastly there is this route
1. Remove the D-link Card's Software via Add & Remove Programs
2. Remove the Device/Card Adapter, if it is external
3. Install the Software and Card Adapter in accordance with the D-Link Instructions.

More often than not my clients have turned their wireless connection off accidentally, which may be a switch or hotkey on your computer. Other solutions may be: If you were using Linksys' software to configure, you may have removed it from startup. The drivers could be corrupt. A virus could disable it. The router is not transmitting or settings were changed there, preventing you from connecting with current settings. Generally in any situation, removing all software and drivers, rebooting, and (obviously from another computer) download the newest drivers from linksys' website, and installing those will most likely do the trick. (You will have to re-add connections you previously had, so if it's a secure wireless network, make sure you have the key.)

Look out for the driver of the wireless card. check the system configuration were you have all installed hardwares and see if you can find thr card there. if it is not there, then you may have to get the driver cd and re install it. other wise uninstall the driver and re install it again. but first, go to network connections and see if it is there or if it has been disabled. if it is disabled, enable it and you will be fine

Linksys router not recognize internet

Make sure your router's WAN port is set to dynamic IP. If the light on the front doesn't glow/blink for the WAN port, try a different cable. If a different cable doesn't work it's probably toast. :( This problem appears to be directly linked to the relationship between the WAN port and the modem. Given that the devices can connect to the router, but not internet, it has to be the WAN. Sometimes if the modem goes out it will send too much voltage through to the router and fry the WAN. Had that happen to my parents router. If the above doesn't "fix ya" then try a different router.

Worst case, you might have to put a wireless card in your PC and bridge the modem (wired connection) to the wireless card and broadcast for your wireless devices. At least until you get a new router.

Does not have wireless network adapter

If wireless network adapter does not show on your computer, you can try reinstalling the drivers for the network card. If after reinstalling the network card, it is still not recognized on the device manager, then i think you need to contact your computer manufacturer for possible hardware issue.

How can i get Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router go wireless?

The Linksys Wireless-G is ALREADY wireless. Do you have any computers with 802.11g network cards? Laptops usually have these. Make sure you have properly configured the router, because if it is NOT correctly done then things may not work too well.

I have a sony lap top PCG-5B16. Service

This is my fovorite thing about linksys routers, they hate everything. Unfortunately I still haven't figured out a technical way to fix this problem, but usually pressing the reset button on the modem and the router then unplugging them for 3 minutes and plugging them back in works. If thta doesn't work try going into the status page of the router and tell us what that says.

Dell D600 - Linksys wireless router/adapter

Seems there is a problem with the Linksys since there is not any lights coming on. Did you plug it into a switched outlet in the wall? Does it work if you plug the Linksys into an outlet in another room?
If you can get it to light up, the way you will access it is through your web browser. Type in 192.168.1.1 into your web browser and a login in screen should pop up.
