Maxi-cosi Tobi car seat. When I tried to remove the cover, my son pull out the belt strap from the buckle (adjustment belt- the one wich I normaly pul to tight harness system). And now it just hang at the rear of the car seat and I can't fit it back, I can sea that there is some kind off corridor (same openning as the size of the belt) under the seat and I think that the belt suppose to go in there, but it look like inside this corridor something blocking the way. Can you please advise what can I do here? Julija

im having same problems! have you managed to resolve this??

  • Murfmeister May 22, 2011

Ditto, the kids managed to pull the adjustment strap through the hole and now we can't get it back through. Very frustrating!

  • Murfmeister May 22, 2011

We have managed to solve this problem. We fixed a long thin wire tie to some elastic and then this to the strap and managed to feed it through the corridor under the seat and through the **** at the top. We then pulled the strap all the way through. Phew! We have now put a loop in the end so this doesn't happen again!

Maxi cosi tobi strap has jammed

It's not possible to loosen the belts of your Tobi?In this case you may need a repair of the quick-adjuster (the part where the buckle is attached to) or it may be appropriate to exchange the quick-adjuster.
Because this part is directly affecting the safety of the seat I would advise you not to try to repair it yourself; please visit a Maxi Cosi dealer to have it serviced.
I hope this helps.

Pulled tensioner on maxi cosi tobi now i cant release it back

Just did it. It took two of us, but only a couple of minutes and no tools (except a table knife) once we'd worked out what the problem was. The reason the strap doesn't thread easily through the slot is that there is a sprung two-part mechanism that needs to be held open. One person threads the strap through while the other keeps the mechanism open.

Person 1:

1) Find the slot under the chair that the strap goes into - turn the seat upside down; it's a thin gap you can feel with your fingertip when you run your finger along the narrow back of the metal strip under the front of the seat (not the base).

2) Remove the metal rod that attaches the grey reclining lever. The rod is about 20 cm long and can be pushed out without tools. Removing this rod seems to make it easier to open the buckle mechanism. When replacing the rod later, you just have to line it up carefully with holes (we used a torch to help us see them)

3) Make sure the strap passes under the metal rod at the bottom of the seat back (you can see how here in a small photo here: http://www.englishforum.ch/attachments/sale-wanted/37565d1327058634-sale-maxi-cosi-tobi-car-seat-9mths-3-yrs-zh-maxi_cosi_tobu_small.jpg)

Person 2

4) Push back buckle as far as it will go (it goes back past vertical easily, then needs another firmer push,

5) Hold the buckle in this backwards position.

6) Insert a table knife (rounded and blunt, not sharp) into the space under the buckle and push back the sprung, hinged plastic part that the knife touches at the back.

7) Person 1 then threads the strap back through the slot, pushing until then end comes out.

8) Tie a knot in the end of the strap so you don't accidentally pull it through again!

9) Replace the metal rod in the reclining mechanism.

10) Done!

The straps on my maxi cosi tobi car seat wont adjust they are really tight and i cant slacking it where do you adjust the straps about?

hi

you have to pull the buckle towards you if they are still jammed check where the bottom buckle join the seat body to see if there is anything stuck in there if not i would recommend taking it back to the shop and get a replacement,
i had to do this just 4 weeks after buying mine the straps got jammed and i nearly broke little ones arms trying to get him out!

Maxi-cosi tobi strap tensioner not working. able to tighten straps when child is in seat but when buckle is pressed to release straps and get child out, unable to loosen straps tensioner will not let go.

Hi, Make sure that when you go to loosen the shoulder straps that the **** strap is pulled toward you, otherwise you cannot make the shoulder straps loosen, this is a safety feature. Hope this helps.

Straps won't loosen on our two month old maxi cosi tobi car seat

I had the same problem yesterday - evntually I found this on Maxi-Cosi's website:
"I am no longer able to lengthen the belts of the Tobi when the buckle is open, they lock, why is this?
This may happen because the belt buckle is not flapped forward enough. If you push it forward manually, it no longer locks and you can loosen the belts."
Worked for me!

Removing maxi-cosi priori cover

under the strap that is just below the grey round plastic length adjuster there is a stiched loop. Pinch the stiched loop and you will see that it can be removed.
