My ps3 is getting hot quickly i was wondering if there is fan on the inside that could be broken

You can perform a 'fan test' which should let you know if the fan is working correctly and could clear it out if it is clogged:

Turn off your system with the off/on button and then on the back.
Hold the eject button and turn on the back switch.
It will finish on its own, turn off in the back once finished and then turnback on.

Also make sure that there is sufficient room behind the console for the fan to extract air. I've also heard that animal furs can get sucked in to your ps3 and clog up the fan. If the fan still doesn't work you may want to send your ps3 to get it looked at or open it up yourself and give it a clean. This voids your warranty but is fairly straight forward and only requires opening screws with two different screwdrivers. You can turn your ps3 on while the top cover is off so that you can see for yourself if the fan is working.

Hope it helped!

Yes this is the YLOD (Yellow light of death) to fix it you need to stop the heat build up getting to the main chips in the motherboard to do this you should use the recommended PS3 Repair guide.

It is created by the same person as the top selling Xbox guide>>

Playstation 3 showing a yellow light

this means hadware failure if you still have warrenty send it to sony but if your not under warrenty and want to take matters into your own hands here are a couple of tricks.

again if your under warrenty send it back cause trying to fix yourself could cause void of warrenty

Check the hard drive first,
turn off ps3,....take out the hard drive the hard drive is on the left bottom side, pop the panel off with a small flat head screw driver of knife, then take out the single screw holding it and slide the hard drive to the right with the little handle. it looks like it should pull straight out but it doesnt you have to go straight to the right with it first to get it out of the connectors then pull straight out( when pulling straight out it should be completely free and just lide out)
then boot the ps3 with no hard drive and see if it trys to boot but says no hard drive found instead of the yellow light. if this happens then its the hard drive, you may have to get a new one. any laptop sata drive will work. but before you order a new one try turning ps3 off and putting same hard drive back in this seems to fix a few.

next try the fan test,
with the power switch on the back of the ps3 in the "off" position put your finger on the eject button and hold hit there while you turn the switch on the back to the "on" possition never letting go of the eject button and see if it boots then with a loud fan noise. if it doesnt then could be a number of problems with motherboard or fan or just over heating.

SWirly lines but no menu

Hi, this sounds like a hard drive problem. Try taking your hard drive out and putting it in another PS3 to see if it does the same thing. If it does, then your hard drive is damaged and needs replaced.Your hard drive is located on the side of your PS3, pop the cover off and remove the retainer screw and slide it to the front of the PS3 (pull straight out on some models).

PS3 can turn on, but T.V screen is black

turn power switch on in the back. red light on in the front, hold the power button until system turns back off. this resets all hardware settings. if this doesn't work and the system is ok (green light) then you have a connection problem to the tv

Play station 3 dvd remote pairing instructions.

OK I FIGURED IT OUT!!! First turn off the system(ps3) make sure that you take the batteries out of the remote. Then when you turn it back on go straight to system setting, setting accessories, setting blue tooth device. AND THEN IT WILL TELL YOU TO HOLD DOWN THE START AND ENTER BUTTON DOWN!. Don't forget to put the batteries back into the remote. It took like 3 seconds.

Ps3 60g

This may or may not solve your problem. Turn the power off. Then, Press and hold the 1/0 button for more than 10 seconds. Then turn your PS3 off again. Turn it back on to see if it reset the problem.
Your PS3 Graphics engine processor could possibly be fried. Contact SONY Support to get an exchange. Go to www.playstation.com to setup service. Sony does not plan on releasing parts to repair shops, and I run one. I cannot accept PS3's consoles to repair until I can get a supply of parts. I hate to tell you this, but it is the straight up truth. Good luck
