You're trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features, while the calculator is expecting them. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.

If this doesn't do it, could you post the exact function you're trying to graph?

If the message appears in another context, it sure would help knowing the context of the error.

Just passing by, make sure you aren't zoomed in or panned away from the axis when you look.
Check to see if there is some way you could be referencing a matrix. I can pull up a similar error by trying to pull a value out of a non-existant slot.
I got my first TI 2 days ago, so I probably don't know as much as you.

ti 84 gives err invalid dim when trying to graph

when i click the y= is it normaly a /y1= but now it is a arrow then y1= what should i do i have a big exam tomorrow

I try to graph a point but err: Invalid dim comes up. how do I fix that. I have almost tried everything

when I try to graph I get a invaild dim

Whenever Graphing recv'd err: invalid dim.

whenever i try to graph something, for example y=(2-5x)/2 it wouldnt work and now whenever I press the y= button it says ERR: DATA TYPE 1: Quit 2:Goto but when i press Goto it comes to the exact same screen it's at.

As soon as calculator is turned on, you see the "checkerboard" figure and it immediately turns itself off! We have replaced with brand new batteries today, as well as following the re-set procedures. My daughter cleaned up the memory over the summer so we don't think it's a memory overload problem. Anyone have any ideas or best of all a solution???? This calculator was purchased in Jan. and is not even a year old!!! Frustrated Mom :)
