I have a POP3 account working fine with MS Outlook in my PC. I've tried many times putting the same settings in my new DASH, and it always fails when it tries to log in, repeatedly asking for user/password. I configured with no problem a COMCAST account also using POP3. The only difference I notice, is that the user account has an "@" (email@example.com), the comcast user is just "emailuser"
Make sure you have SSL for the account you want to use unchecked on the Dash. It is set on by default. Also make sure you set your username as the explicit "emailuser", not the fully distinguished name.

When you go through the connection wizard on the LG PC Suite take note of the port number that it is using.
Then go to device manager(for win xp go to start/control panel/system, click on the Hardware tab then device manger) on your pc. Expand Ports(COM & LPT) and right click on LGE Mobile USB Serial Port and select properties. Take note of what port is indicated in brackets. Go to the Port Settings tab and select advanced. Change the com port number to what LG PC suite was using. Select OK, OK and try connecting again with the Wizard and see if you can transfer data etc
Let me know if that helped.
For Blue Yonder, Virgin, NTL you must only put the mailbox name in for the username.
Also, for the outgoing server do not use the blue yonder value unless you are at home. The outgoing server has to match the broadband supplier, unless you have your own website set up for email and most providers will accept this
You need to be more specific about what you want to do with your phone. However, I know that everyone uses Email, so I will give you an example of how configurable is.

I use Versamail with my web-based, non-work email account (which is what it sounds like you have - web-based at least). I don't sync Versamail, I just use it to dial in to my account and download/send emails.
