What your saying is that I can add another graphic card to the motherboard even though one is there? Or do I have to change the one I have since it is "stuck" to the motherboard or do I have to buy another motherboard setup? The graphics card I have is Trident cyberblade xp Ai-1.....

By the way can I use a universal silicon or do I need a special one betweeen the flan and the processor bc the computer is "overheating."

Just try and check the available, open slots on the system's motherboard, whether it is AGP slot or PCI slot, then buy a VGA card of that type, making sure that you check the VGA Memory of the one you are buying (32M and Above should be ok for you depending on what type of applications you run on the system),
then insert this VGA card into available slot, then when you power up your system, go to the system setup (BIOS) and select the type of graphic card you are using as well as its memory size.
Check that you also select that the system should not use the On-Board graphics under the peripherals option in the BIOS setup also.
Hope it helps.
Goodluck!

How can i change the video card in a toshiba satellite A205-S5852? what is the proscedure? is it even possible? please help!!

This laptop has integrated GMA 950 graphics (onboard graphics chip). This is embedded int he motherboard and cannot be changed. Very few laptops have separate graphics cards.

If the graphics chip has failed (usually caused by excess heat) then replacing the motherboard is the only solution)

Hi my names robert england \r\nI was wondering if the the graphics card of my TOSHIBA Satellite C660D-14W can be replaced with a more heavy duty graphics card like a NVIDIA Ge-Force thanks.

Sadly a graphics card on a Notebook/Laptop cannot be replaced as the graphics card is built into the motherboard of the laptop, you would have to buy a new laptop to get a better graphics card

Sadly graphics cards in Notebooks/Laptops cannot be replaced as the current graphics card is built into the motherboard, this is the downside of having a Notebook/Laptop as the only things you can really upgrade is the RAM or the Hard Disk Drive

I don't think you'll be able to. Most laptops, particularly the older ones, don't have user changeable graphics cards. On these models the only way to change it is to change the whole motherboard, this will work if you need to replace faulty graphics, but If you want to upgrade your system then it'll only work if your model was shipped with two or more different graphics chipsets.

yes you chould see iti but i advice to check if is onboard the graphic card or is dedicated, from another point of view the motherboard is a litlle difficult piece to change in laptop most people just buy other.
if the graphic card is onboard then you cannot change because you will need to cut it out so is a no can do .
if the graphic card is dedicated maybe you can change it if you find a card for this type .

You don't -- the built-in video-card on laptop computers is *NOT* a "user-replaceable" part.

This may or may not be of some help. http://www.laptopka.com/2006/04/12/remove-replace-video-board/

Usually with laptops you have to replace the mobo but looks like there may be a possibility (slim one) that the card can be replaced, however I could not find anything as far as parts to get to replace just the video card so its looking more and more like the whole mobo would need to be replaced.

I suspect my graphics card has been swapped by my comp. guy.

Your graphics are integrated into the motherbaord, so he couldn't have changed it out on you. Your Satellite has a ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 IGP with 64MB shared memory.

You can try to update or rollback the driver to see if that solves the problem, or contact the guy who serviced your laptop and see if he has any ideas.

Well my toshiba satellite u405-s2820 turns on but the screen is just black... what I'm I to do??

Firstly unplug everything from the laptop (even the power) and remove the battery, hold the power button down for 10secs then plug the power back in only, see what happens...

If nothings changed...
Try and plug a normal monitor into the VGA port and turn the laptop on;
you will get the toshiba POST screen if the graphics card still works (then the actual screen is at fault)
if you dont then the graphics card is at fault..

[Just a thought... does the laptop bleep when you first turn it on?]

Let me know how you get on...
