Question about GE Profile PSW26P Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

My GE Profile fridge stinks!! All by itself it started shooting water out of the dispenser all by itself. Good thing I was home or I would have had a flood. Shut off the water valve. Next thing I know it was shooting out icecubes!!! What the heck!!!

Yes there is a way to disconnect the water line. Pull the Fridge out from the wall. The electrical power chord should be on the back side as well as the 1/4" water line. You need to locate a valve and shut off the supply water. Then you can disconnect the line with wrenches. It is located near the bottom.

Not getting any water out of the dispenser, but its making ice

The water dispenser on my GE profile fridge stopped working for a couple days. The refrigerator and freezer temperatures have fluctuated over the past several months causing fridge items to periodically freeze and freezer items to periodically thaw. GE tech came today identified a bad circuit board, which he replaced for a cool $300. Ouch. Fridge is only three years old. Oh yeah, the icemaker also has a broken tab which causes it to jam every couple weeks. We have GE Profile appliances throughout our kitchen and they all work great except for the fridge :-( I hope GE engineers read this post. If so, get to work! LOL

I have an older Profile that is working fine except it won't dispense ice or water when the door switch is pushed. I checked the switch itself and it is okay. Where do I go next? Profile Model TFHA 22RRA

The water valve is the only other thing that controls both. Go around to the rear panel (just follow the water line to the fridge) and have someone push the water dispenser paddle in the front and then listen. If you hear a hum or buzz noise when they push it. If so the valve is trying to open but cannot and it will have to be replaced.

FRIDGE FREEZER SIDE STINKS

That is your problem.
The plastic supply lines over time deteriorate and wind up causing the water to smell.
Replace the plastic line with a stainless steel ice maker water supply line available at any home improvement center. They are 1/4 inch inside diameter lines and fittings.
They come in 5/10 and 20 foot lenghts.
After you do this run about 2 gallons of water through the water in the door dispenser. Discard the first 3 drops of ice from the ice maker.
Your ice quality will improve.
