Re: mitsubishi ws-65809

Loose connection.
check for any over heated areas and resolder them specially the convergence IC.This resistor is located in the back edge of the chassis in the board in the right side and it might be hidden by a plastic casing that covers the high voltage transformer.If you are not too familiar with tv service you should seek the help of a servicer.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65809 rear projection TV. I had issues with the convergence, screen bowing on me...etc. Looking on the web I learned how to change out the IC'S, which I did successfully. then...

When I do a convergence repair I always double check the plugs that I had unplugged and plugged back up to be sure I have them all the way in place. Or essentially all plugs. This is a possibility. There may be an open fuse in the deflection board which has the high voltage transformer which has the 3 large red wires coming out. Another thing to do is to tap on the board and see if it comes on because you may have created a loose solder connection especially on the deflection board causing a no High voltage symptom or in the regulator circuit a bad connection that produces the B+ to the transformer and horizontal output transistor.

It needs to be repaired by having the convergence ICs replaced or resoldered (if intermittent).

Parts are STK 392-570. Be sure to use thermal paste on the ICs.

Turns of after being watched for several hours.

Do you have the tools required to solder electronics? Do you know how to solder electronics? Have you been trained in CRT safty ? Do you know about High Voltage safty? Is the tv Model number WS-65809? Do you know how to perform static geometry adjustement on a WS65809 if needed? Do you know how to perform static convergence alignment on a WS-65809? Do you know how to perform fine convergence adjustement to a WS-65809?

The answer is :yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
You can retreive an error code of 23 or 24 right after the tv shuts
itself off .
There is a 95% chance that I could tell you what to solder , no parts need to be replaced in your television and you would not have to pay someone to repair it.

Good Day;

You have poor connections on your "convergence IC's. Middle board IC's on large silver heat sink. Redo solder before total failure. Good Luck, big IRISH.

in the front cover turn up screens on all colors till you see retrace lines, then back them down to where dissappear. enless you know the correct voltage to set it. as for the green. i would try the red crt on the green and see if it looks ok. if so then replace crt circuit or check transistors on crt circuit may also need to change the driver on the heat sync.

Pinkish red screen

Your set doesnt have a color wheel you have 3 CRTs instead. Try turning down the red drive on the red crt circuit board that should help if not check the resistor that is connected to the red drive switch Vasriable resistor(switch) that is probably open if not the crt is probably at fault. If you need more info let me know.
