I lost my key for falcon futura and was told to break my ignition barrel and start it to get home... now only wires are showing the dashboard lights up wen i join wires but we still won't start up

the circle on the dash is smart lock..(ignition cut off like a kill switch immobilser) the only way to fix that is take it to ford or a macahnic its a module inside the ignition ,,,or the computers smartlock aint letting it go

no year told or country and rules of IMMO vary by, COUNTRY
open your glove box. get the users guide and read the IMMO page
it tells you to try both keys the car came with new.
lost the 2nd key, oops the be an expensive error.
this IMMO engine immoblizer stops dead car theft.
that is its purpose and can not be hacked only repaired in the proper way as the manual tells you,that you lost or forgot to read.
1998 and 2006 years made this car. not told./

there is no magic CLEAR, by DESIGN>
  1. locksmith call
  2. or find 2nd key , lost or forgot to look
  3. or car repair shop
  4. or a dealer fix.( new keys cut)

Hi Grant you may have to take it to a dealer your new keys probably require programing to your vehicle.

How do yah replace the the ignition barral in falcon
I assume you're talking about an older model falcon/antique? If so... Insert the key and push a paper clip/stiff wire into the hole on the front of the barrel close to the key slot. It should turn backwards I believe and slip right out.

Your ford dealer visit may not be as expensive as you think, you need 2 pats keys and have them perform an ignition key code erase then they should be able to program your 2 new keys, The Ford Dealer I work at only charges 0.5hrs or approx $50.00 dollars Canadian.

Write down the VIN number and call a dealer with it. Electronic chipped key will cost.. 150 - 200??
Check your insurance for lock out coverage, may include lost keys coverage.

VIN number can be found on drivers side, bottom of the dash from outside the windshield. Maybe on top the windshield too.

Ignition switch / Lock Barrel seems loose.
Its more time consuming than you would think. It involves the following tasks;1) Disassembling the lower dashboard, below the steering wheel 2) Actually replacing the lock, which is difficult because of special allen tools required, and locating the release pin. 3) carefully reconnect the wiring (simple task) 4) changing ALL the other locks, if you desire to have a master key again.( about 5 of them)
