I own a Panasonic TV / VCR / FM Stereo (Model # PV-M2048) but lost remote. I bought an RCA brand Univeral remote, but when I programmed to work witht he TV, a blue display box appears on screen that advertises the features of this TV. The messages just keep scrolling. I have unplugged the TV for about 8 hours to see if that would somehow 'reset' something, but the blue display box is still there.

To program the remote, press and hold the TV button. Then enter the 2 digit code from the code list. The EUR7724KC0 will only control TVs from about 17 manufacturers that were manufactured before the remote was programmed. If the given code for the TV brand doesn't work or the manufacturer isn't listed, then the remote can't control that TV. I'll list a few of the codes (see the manual, link below, for more):
Panasonic 01, 02
The EUR7724KC0 remote came with several devices including the PV-D4734S DVD/VCR. The directions for programming the TV code are on page 28 of that manual. The code list is on page 29. This manual is available from Panasonic here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/PVD4734S.pdf . Since this particular DVD/VCR model was listed at Amazon in 2004, it probably won't work for TVs built in that year or later.
There are a few universal remote controls that you can use, I have 2 philips remotes that work. One is model SRU4106/27, I believe i purchased that last year at Target, the other I no longer have the instructions to and there is no model number on the remote, but if the label says dvr's the remote will probably work. It is nice to get one with an advance button that has an arrow on the button, because Replay tv of that model has a commercial skip that can be used vs fast forward on other dvrs. The remote that I gave the model number for does not have the advance button, but the other thinner gray remote does have it and I purchased that one at Best Buy, but haven't seen them there in a while. You can also find them on ebay, just search replay tv on the search bar...Good Luck!
What you might have done with your universal remote is imputted a code that is good for some Panasonic models, but won't activate all functions on your VCR. There are lots of Panasonic codes, the user manual for the remote should have them, try them all if in doubt, to see if you can get it to work.
If you can't find any more codes, I will post the ones I know on request.
Unfortanatly, your gonna need the original remote or a simular one to get to the channel programming mode in the menu. You can go to http://remotes.com or call 1-800-remotes and get one for your set. Im sorry i couldnt assist you more. Good Luck
