Well all of these sound good but I will add a simple one buy a can of compressed air and clean out the power supply fan and the cpu fan and add a couple of case fans to help with heat, I had problems with some of my older asrock boards and bought new fans for the cpu a cobalt turbo cold fan, when I would run 7 dvds and would edit audio and video it would heat up and go off took a 110 fan and put it it a couple of feet away from the box and found out it was a heat problem, most techs tell you that's a no no but it worked for me and did not cost anything to find out.

Hi- i would say that it is a heat issue. check the temps of the cpu-also check some of the bios settings, my asrock board has some bios settings that are for safe overclocking-like bumping up voltage. set these to default.-one is called vccm, then vlink, then over vcore. vccm set-to high- vlink set to normal- over vcore -disable. but do check the cpu and if you have some heat sink compound- take the heatsink off and reinstall it with the new compound. make sure you clean the old compound off. if you need more help-reply good luck!

other thoughts- redo windows and all other software you have. after checking the settings i mentioned, a clean windows install would be a good thing.but first try this speedfan and see if it is a heat issue. http://speedfan.en.softonic.com/

It is not necessarily motherboard, this can be an overheating problem.

When the cpu goes under stress because of heavier load, like when you do calculations, or start more complex processes, it produces more heat.
If the Heathsink cooling is insuficient, or if the CPU is defective, this may cause temperature raising over the critical limit and computer to shut down.

CPU critical temperatures may vary between 60 and one hundred centigrads, depending on the processor type.
Here a diagram: CPU maximum temperatures.

You can monitor CPU temperature using software like SpeedFan.

If the problem is CPU overheating , replace the CPU fan first, and ensure that the fan is well in contact with cooling paste on top of CPU surface.

Regards.

Try other routes first.
See if you can do a System Restore, try and remember the point when this started.
Re-Install Windows and see if this helps with issues, back up your files first.
If it persists after a fresh install, then yeah, replace the motherboard.

you could run a memory test "mamtest86", you could start removing unnecesarry pherephials and cards (who needs a telephone momem anymore?) and disabling devices in your bios, and you could test your power supply.

Computer keeps shutting off without warning

If the PC doesnt show the shutting down dialogue, then hardware proble if it does then its a software problem. Try to replace the powersupply, abnormal voltage sometimes causes this problem, memory and motherboard errors can cause your PC hangs up or blue screen but will not shut off.

Have you checked the ventilation area of the processor if it is blocked by dirt? It causes heat to processor, when it reaches a certain hot temperature, it automatically turns off to avoid further damage. Have it opened and be cleaned by a computer tech
