You most likely upgraded your laptop to W10 and now you are having problems like this.
If the installed driver for the unit you are connecting is wrong or missing in action you will need to install another driver for the device on the PC (and one that will work with W10 if available - if you have upgraded to W10).

Tablets are not constructed to allow changing of the battery. The cover of the tablet would need to be removed and the battery will be connected with soldered wires so you need some electrical soldering skills and tools. Even then, getting a matching battery as a replacement will prove difficult.

You can download the device drivers from ASUS WEB site. Select your model motherboard/computer/laptop, and make sure you select drivers that matches your Windows operating system. Please click on this link to their WEB support site : - http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
XP Pro should run fine on it - I would assume that is what it came with. You may need to download additional drivers from Toshiba. I would check with Toshiba about the pen as well, but without it should still function as a regular laptop.
