XL7 or XL-7 (not same car)??????????????????????
lost the glove box book?? wow, that be scary for other on your road.
are you even on a road, offroad.or on ice? where?
which 4wd system do you have, we are to guess that?
sure you can if awd, turn the knob.( if no knob its not AWD)
do so moving as slow as possible. dead slow.
in the PT system you need to be on ice or dirt
or the gear box can lockup in 4wd.
do so as slow as possible saving the poor dog gears.
on suzuki , 2004 introduces AWD
some started in 2006
and is an OPTION day 1, buying 4wd cars.
im guessing GV Xl-7?????????????????????
the book is here
read that.first (note the dash between L and 7 !

yes or no.
this is what matters most,
SOURCE: 4WD shift problems
Some one told me to unhook the batery for half an hour then hook it back up and try it. Well it worked,no more shif problems.
SOURCE: Switching back 4WD to 2WD - 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4L Limited Petrol
With any 4WD like this, always move a few feet in the opposite direction when disengaging. If you were moving fwd in 4wd, switch to 2wd, back up a few feet, then go fwd.
SOURCE: Truck won't go back in to 2wd from 4wd
I had a similar issue in that we couldn't turn the 4wd on no matter how hard we tried. We replaced the switches in the dash and the vacuum hoses on the switch on the transfer case. the vacuum lines were dry rotted and leaking. we had our mechanic do it and all told was less than 500 bucks labor and tax included.
SOURCE: four wheel wont disengage. had switch for 4x4 set
if it is a turn knob that puts it in 4x4.then a wire under the truck is touching the exhaust pipe making it do this. I had this happen to mine. It will be 2 wires so they more and likely came loose.
