Turn the iPhone off and see if that helps. If it is still under warranty, go to the apple or best buy store, depending on where you got it, and get a new one (assuming turning it off didnt work), but, if you don't want to go through that, then just turn off the phone for sleep and that will be your sleep, but, i wouldn't suggest that

How do you turn off sleep mode on iphone 3

What do you mean by that? You put the phone in sleep mode by pressing the power button on the top of the phone. To get it out of the sleep mode you can press the top button again or press the home key.

If you mean how can you stop the screen turning off after a a period of time, go to settings/general/auto-lock and change it to the desired setting.

Hope this helps

My iphone is stuck on emergency contact mode with the picture telling me to plug it into itunes. when i do it says sim card is not support the iphone, i have tried everything but it wont even restore.

Are you using a legitimate ATT sim card or are you jailbroken using Tmobile or some other GSM provider? you can try putting the phone into DFU mode. Have it plugged into the computer. and turn it off. Then hold both the upper sleep/wake button and the bottom Home button for 10 seconds. Then when you get to ten release the top sleep/wake button and continue holding the bottom home button until itunes gives you a message about it recognizing a phone in recovery mode. This should allow you to restore the phone.

you will have to follow the steps below, and place the phone in DFU and restore your phone

To put the iPhone into DFU mode so you can do an iTunes firmware restore follow these steps:

Step One
Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.

Step Two
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.

Step Three
After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.

The iPhone screen will remain black like this:

NOTE***: It may take a few attempts to get your iPhone into DFU mode. Generally, I hold down both buttons then release the Home button just before I think the Apple logo would appear. If you are still holding both buttons down and you see the Apple logo you are holding them down for too long!

Can you provide more details?

Do you get a white screen? Sad iPhone logo? When you push power does the LCD appear to light up (dark grey color)?

If you hook it up to your computer does iTunes detect it?

if the phone appears to turn on, try putting it in to recovery mode

  • Disconnect your iPhone from your Mac or Windows computer.
  • Press and hold the sleep/wake and home buttons simultaneouslyfor about 20-30 seconds, until you see a yellow triangle with anexclamation point in the middle accompanied by the text "Please Connectto iTunes."
  • Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes if it does not automatically launch.

Iphone does not ring when in sleep mode

This seemed to work for me;
1.) Reset the phones network settings
2.) Reboot the phone
3.) Put the phone in airplane mode
4.) Reboot the phone
5.) Take the phone out of airplane mode
6.) reboot the phone.
I read this on another website, and it seemed to work for me.
To reboot the iphone hold down the sleep/wake button, and the home button at the same time for 6 seconds (until the apple logo appears).
Good Luck!!

Phone won't ring in sleep mode

I had the same problem with my iPhone the only way I was able to fix it was to re-flashed the latest 2.2 firmware. Power phone off, power on by holding power and home at same time, hold power for ten seconds and then release still holding home key for another 30 seconds to put phone in DFU mode. Then plug into iTunes it will detect phone in recovery mode and allow you to re-image
