Hi Rachel, take the master switch out of the handle, inspect and smell it. There is a recall for this switch burning out, (can cause a fire). While the switch is out, write down all the #'s on it. Call a Chevy dealer and ask them if you need a new switch.

They hooked into wiring they shouldn't have >
Power Window System Components
The power window system consists of the following components:
?€¢
Driver door module (DDM)

?€¢
Passenger door module (PDM)

?€¢
Body control module (BCM)

?€¢
LR power window switch

?€¢
RR power window switch

?€¢
Window up and window down relays in each of the rear passenger window switches

?€¢
Window lockout switch

?€¢
Reversible power window motors in each of the doors (circuit breaker protected)

?€¢
LT DOOR CB 25A (System power for left rear window)

?€¢
RT DOOR CB 25A (System power for right rear window)

Power Window System Controls
The power window system will operate anytime the retained accessory power (RAP) system is active or when the ignition switch is in the ACCY or ON position.
The DDM contains 4 power window switches which are integral components. Closing any of the normally open, rocker type switches provides the DDM with a request for power window operation. The switches for the 2 front windows have 3 positions Up, Down and Express Down, while the switches for the rear windows have only 2 positions, Up and Down. Each of these switches and their positions is a direct input into the DDM. Upon receiving a request for power window operation, the DDM, transmits a class 2 message indicating the switch and it's changed position.
The PDM contains a single power window switch that is an integral component. Closing of this normally open, rocker switch provides the PDM with a request for the front passenger power window operation. The switch for the front passenger window has 2 positions Up and Down. Each of these switch positions is a direct input to the PDM.
The 2 rear passenger doors have there own switches. Each of the switches contain a power window up and down relay. A switch activation alone can control the up and down functions of the rear windows. However the BCM, upon receiving a class 2 message from the DDM, can control the set of relays which will activate the rear window motors.

The drivers side cook lock does not lock or unlock using the remote. The other door do respond to the remote. What is the cause and solution?

Hi Charles

The drivers side door gets the most use
Check the actuator wiring coming through the door hinge
If it works from the key then the Power to the door is OK & the key switch is ok. Must be trigger wire from wireless device receiver!

Good Luck

Would a remoter starter over ride the Factor power door locks or do they hook into the Factor computer

Depends where the defect if. Most alarm /remote systems lock doors before the remote will activate the starter. They do splice into the car's system..do if the defect if further down line from the splice the problem will remain. Check your relays for the problem.

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8. A couple days ago after stoping to get gas I started it up and the interior lights came on and power windows would no longer work. Later I noticed the remote...

I had the same problem recently. The dealership diagnosed the pblm as a corroded wire in the door frame that is responsible for all power windows and power locks locks. A simple rewiring and resoldering (approx. 150 CAD$) fixed the problem.

I own a '99 Range Rover 4.6 hse. I recently reinstalled a battery that had gone dead. I cranked the engine but the alarm went off and the vehicle did not start. I am getting this message: gearbox fault. I...

Unfortunately, there is a trick to replacing the battery.
1) Open the Driver side door.
2) Open the Bonnet and take the battery cover off.
3) Use your remote to lock and unlock the car (keeping the driver side door open)
4) Pull the Negative Lead from the battery first, followed by the Positive Lead.
5) Change or replace with charged battery.
6) Closed down Bonnet.
7) Your windows, sunroof, and key FOB will not work... so follow the next steps.

7a) Insert your key, with door closed into the exterior lock on driver's side.
7b) While turning the key to lock the door, hold down the "lock" button on your remote for 5 seconds while in "lick" position
7c) Your remote will reset, and you should be able to use your remote now
7d) While driving, roll each window down twice. On your third attempt, you should only have to touch the window button, and the window will have reset

Driverside door lock & window stopped working.

It may seam extremely complex this problem however its likely vary simple. What you need to do is fine out what works and what dose not . Dose the keyless work on other doors the battery is G or NG. You also mention the remote starter stopped working and D and P position no longer works correctly with the controls /switches in the drivers side door only' not the other doors ..
The control panel for the locks and window switches are on the arm rest drivers door it tends to get wet rain snow window open over time bad connections /switch contact and that is the point you need to look at first . Get some electrical contact cleaner spray into the switches not to much spillage use a tube or it may damage trim materials .
Then use the controls back and forth if you see any improvement of function starts /then stops any change you found the problem .Its in the door.

Is this a major fix should I have towed to dealer Taking out mortgage on my residence first.

Sounds like a weak driver's door lock/unlock actuator (rusted/oxidized) w/the trans clutch safety switch (Ignition Lock Switch) circuit8209a90.jpg
eeb47a1.jpg There is also the possibility the burglar alarm relay(starter kill) circuit is 'OPEN'. To check the starter solenoid circuit & starter, go to the U/H (under hood) Junction box and remove the starter relay. Jumper the starter solenoid circuit at the relay connections in the junction box 40a2524.jpg
Driver's power window problem could be the control switch itself, or the motor has stalled (if only stalled, a simple 'SHOCK' to the motor can get it working again). With the driver's door window switch held in up or down position (depending wether window is UP or DOWN), momentarily HIT the interior door panel at the arm rest 'INWARD' (not too much force... just a SHOCK) you don't want to break the door panel. If this doesn't work, you'll need to gain access to the motor & connector to see if power & ground are present at the window motor connector pins.3595015.jpg8bc893e.jpg

Remote won't lock the Drivers side lock

hi there you say you have had the lock changed do you mean the key hole or the door closure part of the lock?
if you changed the key part its the main lock that's faulty and the reveres is true ,
if the remote is working on one door it is not the remote that's the problem.
i hope that this has been helpful regards John

Driver Window wont go up and door wont lock?

Has he checked for a blown fuse. The fuse box is found by opening the drivers door and pulling the panel off the end of the dashboard. The panel should have a fuse remover attached to the back of it to make it easier.
Good luck
