Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I threw out the case on my OEM software & now I don't know the serial number so I can register it? Do you know where it is typically located or what type of file they might be in so I can obtain it using win explorer. One would think they just need to contact the OEM and ask, but here's the obsticle. One can't get help without registering the product first. But one can't even contact the OEM unless you sign up on their website. The kicker here is ONE can't join and become a member unless you have purchased a product and then register that product that serves to also establish the "said" membership that requires you to login because you need the serial number to do so. AND I never did that when I bought the software at CompUSA years ago. Now my software has lifetime updates and years ago I didn't know I should care. Now I care. Please help.

Please don't say purchase new software, I have been using my (iPhotoPlus4) AND (GIF Animator3.0) BOTH made by "Ulead Software"...for so long now that when I visited their website they both no longer show up in the selection menus anymore....

As I said in my first email..." the obstacle here is one can't get help without having registered a product one must buy in order to contact the OEM. Sure anybody can go to the site and browse till the cows come home cause heck yeah they want new customers. You can't email them or locate a actual phone number or address UNLESS YOU ARE A bonafied registered, (cause you spent money and REGISTERED) customer.I am trying my best to become just that.

I know now when you register you get to reap the benefits of a luxurious plethora possibilities and no doubt fussed over and pampered by there support team. I made a vow never to lag on such things anymore . So I'm late to join the bandwagon, they say better late than never.

I have poked around in the "readme" files & both my program's clearly say they come with lifetime support, updates and upgrades for FREE as part of the DUES I HAVE ALREADY PAID. Why would I want to start fire with flint stones by wasting money on new software that these days sold "Ala Ca rte" as opposed to my all inclusive and all too familiar oldie but goodies that would be expensive to bundle as well as learn should I start over. (NOPE) I want to hold them to their written unconditional promises stated in those very same .txt file that in their once upon a time eager earnest to get my money they published that only expires when I do.

The chance anyone would call them on it has yet to be determined, after all I love the software and have no complaints other than to get the updates, supersidence's and ability to utilize my options to their fullest potential, and since they don't always make things the way they use to I want to keep my program I have..thank you very much.

That's precisely why I chose to buy a coach ticket to land of OZ (here at FIXya) to ask the mighty & powerful wizard (that's you) to help me make my way back home to Kansas (that would be in this case behind the iron curtain of the Ulead iron gates) for which the key to unlock those gates lie somewhere deep inside my own program (kinda like Dorothy's red ruby slippers) and after clicking my heals to the point of kicking myself for being ignorant back during a time when such things like (this mess I'm) now failed to occur to me that I'll regret having registered one day is, well why I've come here to seek assistance.

So since that catch 22 stops my efforts to make it on the inside, and because I know where there's a will there's way to get that serial number by either sniffing it out of the files contained in actual program CD (that was my request initially) or as you suggested (but failed to elaborate the particulars as to how) to launch a search & rescue effort to locate the elusive serial number that may in fact be buried deep inside the inner sanctum of my system's REGISTRY. So what ever the plan is to obtain it is given regardless I need a "HOW TO" recipe to do it, so I do hope you have at least one that eventually leads me to the promise land.

I did not need to pay to join a tech help forum to get told to "purchase the software again" but because I have opted to do so I was hoping to get a suggestion or two that was indeed by far more clever and creative than that one. No offense. I am sorry if I left any stones unturned in my first email request and forgive me if this one goes the extra mile to reap its reward.

    Thank You

It is possible that you can find the key somewhere in the Windows registry, however I will need to know what the software is in order to tell you where to look. Plus, you should be able to contact the OEM regardless of registration status of your software. Obviously they won't turn you away because you haven't registered yet, they want new customers and they want their existing customers to register, sure but they aren't going to turn you away. Chances are they will not supply you with the serial number / cd-key as most places do not keep this information on file. There is a good chance you may need to re-purchase the software.

Please confirm what the software is so that I can see if it's possible to find the serial on your computer somewhere.

Thanks

Tim

    Hello again,

First off it's definitely not going to be on the cd you used to install
the software, there is an algorithm in the installation software that
validates that your key is genuine but there is no way to see what the
key is via that method. You could reverse engineer the alogrithm and generate a new key but that is considered illegal, and the chances of getting your actual key would be something like 1 in 500 million and that's being generous.

Second, it looks like at least one of the products in question is no longer supported by Ulead, you can verify that here:

    http://www.ulead.com/tech/phasedout.htm

Third, the readme probably does say lifetime support with updates and upgrades, a lot of the time the legal meaning of the word lifetime in this case is the product's lifetime, not the lifetime of the user. Meaning they aren't going to allow you to upgrade to the newest version of GIF Animator for free just because you bought version 3.0 years ago. They will allow you to have any updates / upgrades they did for version 3.0 for free however.

Fourth, the number you are looking for at this point is going to be 1-800-772-6735, which is for Corel, the parent company of Ulead.

Lastly, you should try a few of these key finding utilities, they are free and will do a registry scan to try and find the key. I am not sure of the exact place in the registry that Ulead would store the info. and without that it is going to be impossible to track down. These utilites know how to scan the registry pulling information that looks like possible keys. This is your best best. In order of success rate / popularity:

    http://magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

    http://www.winkeyfinder.com/remository/w...

    http://download.cnet.com/Keyfinder-Thing...

Most of these utilites focus on Microsoft keys, but they are known to pull up other programs as well. If none of these utilities work and Corel is no help locating it (they probably won't be able to especially since the software is quite a few years old), then you really have no other choice then to purchase it again.

Hope this helps, oh and please next time please try to keep the response concise, I appreciate your little story there but really a lot of it doesn't make sense and most of the grammar is... interesting to say the least.

    Anyway, have a nice day

Windsor Wellington 2.0 serial number location on the bike

Serial numbers are typically on the underside of the bottom bracket (where the cranks go through the frame), on the left rear dropout (where the rear hub axle is attached to the frame) or sometimes on the bottom of the head tube (where fork goes through frame). Serial number is typically useful only for registering a bike in case of theft or for recalls.

I want to activate

According to Adobe, you should still be able to register your CS3 program via the internet. If not, I would suggest you contact Adobe Tech support.

Some information from Adobe:

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs3-product-downloads.html

You need your CS3 serial number to complete the installation. To find your serial number, sign in to your Adobe account. On the Manage Accounts page that appears, all of your registered products and their serial numbers are listed in the Plans & Products section. For more information on locating serial numbers, or on registering a serial number, please see Find a serial number.

Good Luck.

I need a sebelius 6 serial number urgent

Did you buy this software? You should have the serial number already unless you lost it.

Goto, A232 Serial number - how to determine your serial number
232: Serial number - how to determine your serial number In Sibelius 3 and later, your serial number appears at the bottom of the Help > About Sibelius dialog (in the Sibelius menu on Mac OS X).
Your Sibelius serial number is also printed on the back of the case that your original Sibelius CD-ROM came in. Don't lose this CD-ROM case, as without your serial number you will have problems reinstalling or re-registering Sibelius.
If you have lost your CD-ROM case and your serial number, contact technical support in writing and ask for their assistance. In the interests of security, you may be asked for proof of purchase and identity before you can be given your serial number.

I LOST MY KEY SERIAL NUMBER WHAT CAN I DO_

-This is very common problem especially if you haven't use it. -check out if you still have the Original Operating System disk and its case -usually the Serial Key or Product Key is listed on the case itself -if you don't have the case then look for the Original OSCD on that disk there is a serial # on the middle that was stamped by Microsoft -contact Microsoft depending on your location there is a specific phone # but you can try this 1-8000- Microsoft (642-7676) -you can also try to call them if you have registered your computer the first time you use it. -if you are using a OEM computer such as DELL, HP, SONY you may try to call their hotline and ask them if you can have a copy of the OSCD since those disk will not ask you for a Product Key -if this options are not possible then I don't think there will be anybody here that can help you. -you may need to buy a new Operating System

I need serial for this virsion

What version of what software? Unfortunately I doubt we can help with this as Linux software doesn't require a serial number and windows software typically has hundreds of serial number keys for each version and the chances of getting a working key are hit and miss at best. If it is Windows and you previously had it installed and registered they can assist you with getting the software back up.

Can't install game

Typically the serial number is located on the back of the CD or DVD case, on the lower left hand section. In cases where the game was bundled by Gateway or purchased through Scholastic, the serial number may be found in one of three other locations:
The inside of the case
The back of the manual
On a separate piece of cardboard or paper
If your serial number is not printed in any of these locations, you may request a new serial number.

The following information applies to the North America territories only.

I have an OEM nero disc which came with my computer, I need to reload it after reinstalling my XP OS, but cannot find the serial number, is there a way of relocating it please.

The Nero 6 OEM serial number is either printed on the CD paper sleeve or your copy of Nero 6 OEM has an embedded serial number. In this case you will not have to enter a serial number during the installation of Nero 6. Simply start the installation directly from your Nero 6 OEM installation disc.
