The Kodak P712 turns off and then on when I try to use it.

My camera turns off and then back on when I first turn it on. Sometimes it straightens out, but not always.

Not a fix, but a no cost way to work around the problem. Once the camera stays on, (you may have to move the dial carefully to make this happen), do not turn it off ever. It will shut down by itself. To turn it on again, just open the battery cover and let the battery slide out a little, then put it back in. Be sure the catch is closed. The camera will start as normal and work fine as long as the dial for turning on is not moved.

Your fix could be as simple as cleaning the camera's battery contacts, or it could be something more serious and expensive. Before you pay for expensive repairs that you may or may not need, check the Kodak Help Center by clicking on the link below. It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.

Your P712 has the P-series powerswitch problem. Can be solved. Look here: http://www.dpreview.com/search/forums?query=p712+power+switch&forum=1011
Use WD40 or Deoxid to solve it, mostly for the longer duration. If necessary use again.
