Why doesn't foot stay up when the lever is lifted, probably about 90%of the time?

Probably wear and tear but can anything be done about it?

Take it in for service. It could be the spring has become depressed (when storing the machine, make sure the presser foot is always stored in the Down position), or something has become detached or loose.

I have a Model 830 Bernina. The winder spindle will not turn with bobbin on it. It spins fine when bobbin is off but when holding with a finger it stops.

As you have probably deduced, something is defective with the bobbin winder mechanism. Other than taking it for service, there's probably not much that can be done.

For ~$30, a standalone bobbin winder (Sidewinder) can be purchased several places (JoAnn's, Amazon, etc) that is a very handy accessory. It winds bobbins quickly, saves wear and tear on the machine, and can be used without having to remove the thread from the sewing machine.

I have a vintage Bernina 830 and cannot get it to load the bobbin. I have it threaded properly but the bobbin won't spin.

Are you pressing the winding lever toward the bobbin?

If that's not the problem, you can probably have it serviced. Personally, I recommend picking up a stand-alone bobbin winder (called Sidewinder) for ~$30 at JoAnn's, Amazon, etc. They are usually battery and AC powered. Pretty handy little device. Makes bobbin winding fast and easy, can be wound without unthreading the machine, and saves wear and tear on your sewing machine.

How do I replace a broken bobbin winder on janome JP760?

For ~$30, you can buy a standalone bobbin winder (Sidewinder) at JoAnn's or from Amazon. Great little accessory as multiple bobbins can be wound without unthreading the machine, plus it saves wear and tear on the machine.

Slant-O-Matic 401. Bobbin tension to loose. Have tried turning screw, just won't fix this time.

It could be that the bobbin case is old and worn (normal with wear-n-tear). You should be able to find a replacement that will work. Check at the local sewing repair shop.

In the meantime, you can pick up a ~$30 stand-alone bobbin winder (called Sidewinder) at JoAnn's or on the internet. It not only allows you to wind bobbins without unthreading the machine, it saves wear-n-tear on the machine.

My Bernina bobbin will not spin to fill.

In the meantime, you can buy a stand-alone bobbin winder at JoAnn's or on the internet. It's great because you save wear-n-tear on your machine and you can wind several bobbins without unthreading your machine.

My lovesac is getting a tear near a seam. Should I sew it or is there a special patch?

Depends what the fabric is. However, for longevity, handsewing the tear will probably hold up longer than any glue or tape product.

How do I find out how much the above is worth?

Value is totally subjective based on a lot of things: brand, model, physical condition, working condition, obvious wear n tear, desirability, included accessories, location, etc.

Check ebay for any similar machines that may have sold recently.

Why won't bobbin winder automatically shut off when filled?

Probably something within the bobbin winding mechanism is misaligned or broken. You can probably still wind bobbins except you will probably need to slow it down, watch it, and stop the winding action when the bobbin gets near the filled capacity. Or, for ~$35, you can purchase a standalone bobbin winder (one brand name is Sidewinder) from JoAnn's, Hancocks, or even Amazon.com. (Also helps save wear and tear on your machine.)
