Dashlights at night don't work when headlights are on.

Daytime running light module which is located under dash (around the area of the fuses) probably has a bad solder joint inside (if you take it apart). If not could be bad connection on one of the switches (like your dimmer switch)

Did you replace them with the same batteries ? Some people assume all batteries are the same. Some are 3 volts, while others are only 1.5 volts.

Lot of newer cars don't have they now days. Should be plug on side of case. Its a dealer item nowdays.
