You should multiply the top line only of the fraction.

eg 2/3 x 5 = 10/3

This will often give an improper fraction, that is, one with the numerator (top line) greater than the bottom (denominator). Its value is then greater than one.

You can then reduce this by dividing the bottom into the top line, and writing the remainder as a fraction

eg 10/3 = 3 and 1/3
.

  2. Multiply numerator x numerator, then multiply denominator x denominator.
Dividing Fractions:
  1. Make sure you're working with two fractions
  2. Flip the second fraction upside down.
  3. Change the division sign into a multiplication sign.
  4. Multiply top x top and bottom x bottom.
Converting Mixed Numbers into Improper Fractions:
  1. Convert mixed numbers into improper fractions.
  2. Take the whole (non-fraction) number and multiply it by the denominator.
  3. Add that answer to the numerator.
  4. Put that amount over the original denominator and you will have an improper fraction.
Method for Adding and Subtracting Fractions:
  1. Find the lowest common denominator (bottom number). For both adding and subtracting fractions, you'll start with the same process.
  2. Multiply fractions to match the lowest common denominator.
  3. Add or subtract the two numerators (top number) but NOT the denominators.

How to round to nearest tenth with the number 25,099

TenTH = A fraction of a whole, the 'th' tells that.
So, since 25,099 is a 'Whole' number, with No fraction of a whole, or no part/fraction of 1, therefor, rounded to the nearest tenth, it remains the same.

What are 4 different fractions that are equal to 1 1/2

Hi Anonymous,
You can make equivalent fractions by multiplying or dividing both top and bottom by the same amount, but only multiply or divide, never add or subtract, to get an equivalent fraction.
I've only shown the fraction part of your question as 1 is a whole number.
1/2 = 2/4, or 4/8, or 8/16 or 16/32 or 32/64 & so on.
Going the other way, dividing 2/4 by 2 will give 1/2.
But, only divide when the top and bottom would still be whole numbers, for instance you wouldn't use divide for odd number fractions, for example 1/3 or 3/5 etc.
Trust this helps, best regards Alan

What is mixed number in math

A mixed number is a number with a whole part and a fractional part.

Do a search on why whole numbers are referred to as "whole" numbers.

Whole means complete, with no fraction part. 12, 37 are whole numbers. The number 12.5 contains a part that is whole (12) and a fraction part 0.5 equivalent to 1/2. There is no mystery.

How do you enter mixed numbers ( whole numbers and fractions i.e 3 3/4)?

You cannot, you must enter 3.75. If you can't figure out what the fraction is, you must first compute the fraction (3/4=.75) and then add it to the whole number (3+.75=3.75)

Define the ff. digits natural # whole # national # irrational # real #??

Sounds like a "school homework" question.

Natural - numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4, ...

Whole - numbers without fractional parts, e.g., '1/2' is not a whole number

National - some countries have superstitions, e.g., American high-rises have no 13th floor,
and some Asian cultures favour street-addresses that contain many '6' characters.

Real - numbers that have a fractional part, e.g., '123.456'.

Rational -- real numbers that can exactly be expressed as a number with a finite-length fraction,
e.g., 1/4, 1/5, 1/8, 1/10, 0.123, 0.45, 0.6.

Irrational -- numbers that cannot be exactly expressed,
e.g. 1/3, 1/7, 1/11, the circumference of a circle divided by its diameter,
no matter how many digits you use.

Mixed numbers

Proper fraction e.g. 3/5, input 3, divide, 5, =, answer 0.6

Improper fraction, either enter as improper fraction, or enter the whole number first, then +, then the proper fraction as before, then =.

E.g. 8/5 which is "1 and 3/5': enter 1, +, 3, "divide", 5 =, answer is 1.6

Or, just 8, "divide", 5, same 1.6 answer. Why go to mixed number first?

13/5 which is "2 and 3/5", enter 2, +, 3, "divide", 5, =, answer is 2.6. Or, just 13/5, same answer
