A 1990 Chrysler New Yorker Battery drains fast even if car not running and door open for a short time! I bought a new battery 1 month ago and had it charged already. Not enough volts to start.

When driving I can watch my voltmeter fluctuate as the lights dim when anything that consumes any power is used. I pulled a 12 code and then had the 55 exit code. Thanks the very most for your valuable time and expertise!

Alternator is old and will drain a batt usually ovrnite.

I kinda had an idea however was hoping for a less invasive fix! The car has only 42553 miles on it!

If you have a drain on your battery , it would not take 18 months for the battery to go dead . What do you mean The battery gauge in the dash shows only about 1/2 power, When ? When the vehicle is running ? Not charging ! The battery gauge as you call it has nothing to do with the Battery . That's showing how much the charging system is putting .The volt's indicator is controlled by the PCM - engine computer . With the engine running should show 14.1 volts .if your only seeing 7 the charging system isn't working. The alternator is controlled by the PCM as well ! Have it check by a GM dealer .

The fuel filter for 1990 new yorkeris located underneath mid body on the passenger side of car. The starter relay for just to know is located behind the front end of the battery in the fender well. Once you remove the battery you will see it.

2008 Jeep Liberty-Dead battery issues w/ a new battery

Unit has a draw somewhere that needs to be addressed. I have found the auto starts sometimes can cause this. But if the draw is through the negative side it could be tough. You should take it to the dealer and have them perform a draw test on the entire vehicle.

you have a power drain going on. you have to trace which part is draining your power. the parts that you mentioned would not work if you already have a low battery condition.

have your battery charged and remove all power fuses and one by one, you insert it back and see if you can find the which part is draining the power.
