Question about Kenmore 44102 Front Load Washer
This sounds very much like the bushes have worn out on the motor, they cost about £10.00 to replace and easy to fit, hope this helps.

I just took apart our Kenmore 970-38802 front load washer - Followed the "Tech Sheet" instructions, determined the motor was the problem - read a lot og DIY blogs and found the mention of the brushes. Found mine on the end of the FHP motor and removed - one was completely worn, the other still has more than 1" left.
Check this out and hopefully you've got the solution.
