SOURCE: Why doesn't the Dyson work at base with brushes

    Hi Barbara,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If your machine has suction through the wand, but not through the cleaner head, it's likely that there's a blockage somewhere in the cleaner head. The filter may also need a wash.

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

    http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=622&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

This should resolve the issue - however, if you'd like further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US) so we can help.

    Kind regards,

    Jack

How to get the brush out to clean it ?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC14's brush bar is connected to the clutch mechanism which allows you to adjust the machine for carpets and hard floors. For this reason it's nor possible to remove the brush bar - however you can remove the soleplate to making cleaning the brush bar easier:

    3c9bd408-12cd-4a83-ade2-b06a2b02b520.jpg

Once the soleplate is removed, we'd recommend using scissors to carefully cut away any threads or hair. Please take care not to damage any of the bristle tufts.

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further maintenance advice you're welcome to call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My brush bar keeps falling down. We replaced motor but now the brushes don't spin.

Hi! If you've replaced the turbine & gear assembly and the brushes are still not spinning, a replacement brush-block assembly may be needed. The brushes counter rotate and need each other to spin. If a single brush is falling out, the brush assembly is broken. If the whole brush assembly keeps falling out, the drive pin shaft may be damaged. To order a replacement brush-block follow the link below.

Brush bar won't spin. Both filters have been cleaned ,all hoses checked for blockages, brush bar removed for cleaning

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25 doesn't use a conventional, user-replaceable belt. Instead it it uses a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum in normal use, protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it.

Normally, checking the cleaner head for obstructions and removing any threads or hair from the brush bar and endcap will allow you to reset your machine:

However if you've already followed each of the steps shown in our video guide without success, you may need a replacement cleaner head or a repair of your machine. If you can contact us directly we should be able to arrange this for you, and can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty.

When you have your DC25 easily to hand, please get in touch with the Dyson Customer Helpline so we can help determine if a repair or replacement part is needed. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

The brushbar on my dyson is spinning too fast how do i fix it?

I had this problem with the Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner. This model does not have a motor head, but drives the brush bar with the air flow. The brush bar was spinning very fast and the head was not picking up any dirt. The outlet from the brush bar chamber was blocked and the entire air flow was being drawn through the turbo, making the brush bar spin very fast. The solution was to remove the brush bar and and clean the outlet from the brush bar chamber. Note that fluff building up on the filter disk (at the side of the turbo chamber) for the brush bar turbo can reduce the brush bar speed.

How to change belt on sears vacuum cleaner

I believe you turn the vac over so the beater bar (brush) is facing up.
Depending on the age there maybe screws or tabs that hold the plate on to the bottom of the unit. Remove those and the plate. That should expose the bar, belt and motor pulley. If the beater bar doesn't pop out when the bottom plate is removed, pull it out and remove from belt. (Pay attention to how the bar was inserted. It may have a pentagonal shape and only fit properly when inserted a certain way.
Now is a good time to clean the beater bar.
Replace with correct size belt and reassemble in reverse order.

    Hope this helps.
    If so, please rate me.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Ratchet noise, beater will not turn, belt not broken, in carpet mode the Dyson d07 makes huge ratchet noise and the belt will not turn the beater brush.

Ok, so I had the same ratching noise and took the advice of many sites directing me to clean the brush. But like most I cleaned the brush and the noise continues and the brush does not spin. Reluctant to take it to get serviced I dug a little deeper and now it works just fine. This is what you need to do as removing any hair from just the brush part will not be enough.
Remove the entire brush bar from the bottom of the Dyson, this means pulling the bar out of the drive belt. This is not to difficult just use a little muscle as the belt will stretch. Once the bar is out grasp hold of the two plastic end caps on the brush bar which the brush bar actual spins in. These two caps are connected by a slim metal rod which runs through the brush bar. Place one hand on each side and begin to twist and pull until one of the caps comes off. Once the cap is off of the one side you can pull the other cap from the other side through the brush bar as this cap will be the one attached to the slim bar I mentioned above. If like mine you will see a ton of hair wrapped around these caps and inside the ends of the brush bar. Clean them out as best as possible.
After you clean it out, run the cap with the rod back through the brush bar, attach the other cap and twist and push together. Make sure the caps lineup which each other just like they were when you pulled it out. You'll notice how much more freely the brush bar spins between the two caps then before you cleaned it. Now, pull on the drive belt and feed the brush bar back through and attach as it was to begin with. This did the trick for me.

    Hoover Steam Vac Spin Scrub

Remove the brush block, is the shaft on it or broken off. Replace the block if broken off. Turn unit over, with brush block removed, handle tilted back, is the square hole turning, if not then the turbine is bad, this is what turns the brushes.
