Question re: Avolusion HDDGear Pro 500GB 16MB Cache 7200RPM USB 2.0 External Hard Drive: it fell off my desk onto a carpeted floor and now will not allow me to access my data on it. It makes a noise as if...

The bad News, when it fell it most likely knocked the heads or disk out of alignment or broke something inside. Good News - It may still be possible to recover the data on it but that will have to be done by a data recovery specialist company that can take the drive apart and read the Disk plates individually to reconstruct it. Bad News -That process will most likely cost more than the computer did as it is a very specialized field and requires very special conditions.

Iomega 1TB desk top won't eject.

Some of the iomega hard drives don't communicate with Windows XP very well. Ejecting isn't needed, but you simply unplug it. Just make sure you are not accessing it at that time. You can also shutdown the computer and unplug it then. Restarting the computer may also allow you to eject it.
Hope this helps! Rate my solution!

Not accepting a disk, acts like there is another disk in there

Hold the "Eject" button for ten seconds and try it. Oh and if you have a 40 gb model (2 USB ports) and the Eject button dosent work then try this, Turn off the back of the PS3 (Main power switch) and then hold the eject button (while the main power is off) keep your finger pressed on the eject button flick on the main power switch and it should sound like some HUGE fan don't get scared, wait until the fan stops turn off your ps3, start it up and insert the disk and IT SHOULD WORK
