Poulan Trimmer PPB100 fuel lines

I have a poulan string trimmer Model#PPB100. I had let a friend borrow it. When he gave it back it would run. So, I took the filter off and held a gas soaked rag over it. It would run when I did that. While looking for where the fuel problem is a saw that the fuel line was disinegrating. The fule line the fell apart. Upon doing so where the lines connect was no longer there to see the proper way. I have new fuel line. What was left in the tank was the fuel filter and a white piece with a nipple on both side. Examinig the fuel tank there are just 2 holes in it. The holes are fluch and have nothing to connect to. There is a big and small fuel line. I have not been able to find a way to secure the lines in the tank. There does not appear to have any gasket or seel or a way to connect the fuel line to the tank. Also what is the proper way to connect the line to the primer bulb and carbeurator?

The larger of the fuel lines is the main fuel line. It is the one that has the filter stuck in the end of it and runs out the larger hole in the tank to a fitting on the carb. The smaller line should be about one inch into the tank and comes out the smaller hole and runs to one of the nipples on the primer bulb. Press the primer bulb and put your finger in front of the fittings. The one that you feel air coming out of when you do this is the fitting that runs from the primer bulb to the carb. Hope this helps and good luck.

My neighber is having the same problem. Am I reading this correctly? One end of the small line goes 1" into the fuel tank, the other end goes to the suction side of the primer bulb. A second line goes from the pressure side of the primer bulb to the carb. And a third, larger line runs from the carb, into the fuel tank and has the filter on the end. This doesn't sound right. It sounds like unless the tank is within 1" of full, the primer bulb will simply pump air into the carb. I thought the routing would be... fuel filter on larger, main line, out of larger whole in tank to suction side of primer bulb. Line from pressure side of primer to carb (not sure which nipple on carb) and third line from carb, 1" into tank.
Please, clarify and specify which line goes to which nipple on carb. Thanks

I have a PP131 string trimmer. I was replacing the primer bulb and the fuel lines broke. Does the Fuel Pick-up just lay down in the fuel tank or stands up in the hole in tank and does the line just fit...

The fuel pickup should lie in the bottom of the tank. It is weighted so that it will fall to the bottom of the tank when you turn the trimmer back and forth. The line should fit snugly through the hole in the tank so fuel does not spill out when the trimmer is turned up on its side.

My husband took his Poulan Pro 31 cc weed eater/trimmer apart and now needs an engine diagram to put it back together. Where can I get a downloadable one ?

Go to the Poulan web page http://www.poulanpro.com/node6556.aspx and enter the model number of the string trimmer. If the trimmer is a Weed Eater brand (owned by Poulan) then go to this page http://www.weedeater.com/node6507.aspx. I think you can also locate older model manuals in their archives.

Will not idle

May be time to get the carburetor rebuilt. Sounds like the diaphragms are not working properly to pump fuel. You may need some lubrication on the throttle cable too. A little lubrication on the throttle arm would not hurt.
Good Day.

LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON FUEL LINE ROUTING CONNECTIONS. FROM FILTER TO PRIMER BULB, TO CARB CONNECTIONS AND THEN TO RETURN BACK TO FUEL TANK.

most trimmer fuel lines run from line in tank with pick up filter to bottom of carby then out of top of carby to inlet on primer usually the smaller tube then out of the longer tube on the primer and back to the tank.

How do you wind replacement line to the Poulan Pro String Trimmer?

If it is a duel line trimmer then:

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position.

If it is a single line trimmer, just wind a single piece of string clockwise onto spool.

Try checking the fuel filter, not sure of the exact location but should not be to hard to find. Try looking in the gas tank if it's not readily located. If small 2 cycle engines sit for any length of time ( 30 days or so) with fuel in them the filters can become clogged. If your not going to use it for extended periods or storing it for the winter make sure you drain the fuel tank and run the carburetor dry.
