Hi,

Check if there is an IP conflict. Again verify network cables.

Network fails through one port going orange

The ASUS site has a quick start guide (I read Version 3) that says the lights show blue for connections and blink blue for activity. Sometimes orange indicates a connection at a lower speed. What happens when you try a spare port? What is connected to the 'orange' port? What do the lights at the other end of the suspect patch cable indicate? Note that the manual isn't great because the titles say Gigabit Ethernet but the text talks about 10/100 but not 1000 megabit ethernet.

This is a layer 2 device and it ain't exactly the cleverest box on the LAN. If you move devices to other ports, it is supposed to figure that out dynamically. You should be able to eliminate devices one at a time to determine which port or device is defective. Start by eliminating the 'orange' device. If the router is disconnected can you still print?

If you have limited functionality with the suspect device disconnected, the problem could be with that device. Sometimes cables can be a problem. Not likely but it is necessary to check by substituting a known good cable on a link. If the problem goes away, it was the cable.

Remember to photograph the initial configuration with your smartphone. That can help you when you forget where you started. Label the wires with masking tape if there are no other labels, so you can find your way back to the starting point.

Maybe you can try this: with the router powered up and turned on, hold the reset button in for a full minute. Immediately turn it off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on and see if it boots. All lights should flash together and go out, when first turned on, then they should come up as normal. This is called a POST, or Power On Self Test. If they do not, there is a good chance the router and/or the WiFi radio has failed, and may need replacement. The fact that the power light never cycles to green, is a good indicator of this.

you could try connecting to your router with a patch cord. Try to see if you are getting connected and have access to the router. If it fails, i suggest you reset the router once by pressing the reset button which is on the back side of the router.

Unable to communicate thru WiFi to print

A solid green Wi-Fi light indicates that it is connected to a wireless network. An orange light indicates that it is not connected to a network.
Another way to determine if your printer is connected to your network is to print the wireless network setup page. From the printer operator panel, press the Setup button (wrench icon) > Network Setup > Print Setup Page. Your printer will then print the network settings. Check the SSID, signal strength, or trouble code.
A quick fix to this problem (especially if your printer was working fine before with your wireless network) can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC.

You have lost your connectivity between modem and router.

Be sure you always start your network in this sequence:

1. Turn off and unplug the modem from the power outlet. Next, turn off the wireless router
and computer.

2. Turn on the modem and wait 2 minutes.

3. Turn on the wireless router and wait 1 minute.

4. Turn on the computer.

If this does not work, come back to your post let me know and we will try a full reset.

I need instructions to print out for installation. Today please!

There's nothing to install really, you just need to connect the power supply and a couple of Cat5e/Cat6 patchcords (network cables) of suitable lenghts.
You connect one end of each patchcord to the Switch, and other ends to all the devices and computers you want to network together. Observe if the lights that correspond to the socket numbers light up when you connect and turn on each device.
That's it.
A simple switch like this is completely transparent and acts as a central connecting point for the networked machines.
