Replace a belt on indesit dryer

Hello.

Tools needed to solve the problem

(A)Standard screwdriver,New belt
.

1 Unplug your dryer to disconnect power to the unit.

2 Remove the screws that hold the dryer top in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are located along the top and sides of the dryer. With older models -- 1996 and older -- the entire top comes off the dryer. For new models, the timer and console stay in place while the rest of the top comes off.

3 Remove the screws that hold the front panel and door in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are just inside the door at the top front left and right sides of the dryer. The front panel on older models will move to the right side and on newer models the door will move to the left.

4 Remove the existing belt by pulling the idler pulley to the right. This will take the tension off the belt and allow you to pull it away from the motor pulley.

5 Install the new dryer belt by wrapping it around the top of the drum and allowing it to fall around the circumference of the drum. The grooves of the new belt should face down toward the drum. Rotate the belt around the drum to ensure there are no twists in it.

6 Connect the new belt to the motor pulley. On newer models you can access the motor pulley on the front underneath side of the dryer. Pull the idler pulley to the right and loop the belt around it. On older models you can access the motor pulley through an access panel on the back of the dryer. Pull the dryer away from the wall and remove the access panel using a standard screwdriver. Repeat the same steps as on a newer dryer to install the belt around the motor and idler pulleys.

7 Replace the front panel of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.

8 Replace the top of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.

9 Plug the dryer in and make sure the belt works properly before trying to use the unit.

Thanks.

How do I get to the igniter on my WP Gas Dryer (LGR8648PG)?

In order to get to the burner assembly where the igniter is located, you will need to open the dryer cabinet and remove the drum by following these steps:

1. UNPLUG the dryer and remove the lint screen.

2. Remove the two screws that were under the lint screen and lift the top panel.

3. Unplug the door switch connector plug and any ground wire that may be installed on the casing.

4. Locate the two screws that hold the front panel in place. There should be one screw on each side in the cabinet interior.

5. With the door shut, lean against the front panel and remove the two screws that hold it in place. Once the screws are removed, grasp the front panel at the top center and lift straight up to remove.

You should now have complete access to the dryer interior.

6. Remove the dryer drum. Release the belt tension, by pushing the idler pulley (tensioner) to the right (away from the belt) and remove the belt from around the motor pulley. Then, with the belt still wrapped around the drum, use the belt to lift the entire drum out of the cabinet.

You can reference the following websites for helpful exploded view diagrams to assist you with assembling and disassembling your dryer:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com

Once you have completed your repairs, reassemble the dryer as follows:

1. Re-install the drum, making sure the rollers are seated properly in the groove around the perimeter in the rear. Make sure the belt is looped around the drum with the groove side facing the drum.

2. Have someone hold the drum in place while you re-install the belt over the tension pulley and motor. If working alone, kneel down so you can see the tensioner and motor and rest the drum front on your shoulder or knee.

NOTE: With the belt removed, this may cause the idler pulley (tensioner) to come loose. This is normal with no tension on the pulley to hold it in place.

3. Reinstall the belt tensioner by following these steps:

a. Loop the drive belt around the dryer drum with the groove side facing the drum.

b. With the tensioner in your left hand, insert the clip end of the idler pulley into the grooves on the dryer bottom casing with the idler wheel pointing to your left. (The grooves are directly in front of the drive motor.)

c. While holding the tensioner in place, insert the belt UNDER the wheel with your right hand and push the wheel to the RIGHT while pulling the belt over the drive motor pulley.

NOTE: If this does not explain it well enough, you can also verify by going to repairclinic.com. Click on the Repair Help link and look for the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the Special Features section on the next page. Look for WHIRLPOOL and refer to diagram H (This model Amana is manufactured by Whirlpool).

4. Once you have the belt installed, re-install the dryer front panel by holding it as you did previously. Line up the holes on the inside bottom edge of the front panel with the small mounting cleats on the front edge of the side panels. This can be done by yourself, but an assist may make it easier.

5. Once you have the front panel in place, lean against it to hold it in place and install the mounting screws.

NOTE: Don't forget to reconnect the grounding wire and door switch connector plug. Without the door switch connected, the dryer will not run. Lower the top panel back in place and reinstall the two screws.

NOTE: Placing a piece of duct tape over the dryer vent chute will help safeguard against dropping anything down in the blower fan assembly. If you drop any screws down the chute, you will need to remove the dryer back panel to retrieve them.

If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Changing dryer belt on kirkland/whirlpool dryer took apart dryer but dont see where belt suppose to mount.

Hello. The belt goes around the tub and the tension pulley. In fact, it is always a good idea to replace both the belt and the idler/tension pulley at the same time. J.

If you want a schematic go to searsdirect.com and enter your model number. J.

Install dyer belt MAYTAG

Hello there
Here is a detailed instruction for you ok
  1. Remove the two screws that hold the control console to the dryer; they are located on each end of the console. Turn the control console forward onto its face. Disconnect the wiring harness from the dryer to the console. Press in on the locking tab and pull the connectors apart. Set the control panel out of your work area. To remove the top, insert a putty knife between the front and top panels. Locate the retaining clip and push in on it to release the corner of the top panel. Lift up on the corner and release the opposite retaining clip. Set the top panel out of the way. Two screws that attach the front panel to the sides are located at the top corners. Remove the screws and swing the top of the front panel out so that you can access the door switch wiring harness. Disconnect the wiring harness from the door switch and lift the front panel away from the dryer.
  2. Replace the Belt
  3. Locate the idler pulley by reaching behind the drum and motor assembly. Using your hand, push the idler pulley to the left to release tension on the belt2.gif. Notice the routing of the belt around the motor and idler arm for reference when attaching the new belt. Remove the belt from the motor pulley. Lift up on the drum slightly and remove the belt from the drum.

With the rib side pointed inward, lift the drum up and set the belt around the drum. Route the belt through the motor pulley and idler pulley. Pull the idler pulley to the right to reapply tension to the belt. ok?
  4. not too hard
  5. hope this is verry helpful for you
  6. Best regards MIke

I have a kenmore 27 inch electric dryer that when you push the start button it sounds like it starts but the drum doesn't turn. What could this be?

A clear indication that your dryer belt is broken is when the dryer drive motor runs but the drum does not rotate. A new belt is relatively inexpensive from several online or a local parts vendor, but installing it can be a bit frustrating since the dryer drum usually needs to be remove to install a replacement belt. Access to the interior of the dryer is usually necessary. For Maytag (and some Kenmore) models, the front of the dryer can be easily removed (two screws below front contour) by pulling out on the bottom of the panel and rotating up to release the top clips. Once off, place to the side, then remove four machine screws from the front drum/lint filter assembly, then remove by pullling out. Once off, place aside. Remove drum by lifting up and pulling out on drum (since the belt is broken it will not provide any resistance). Once removed, inspect the motor pulley arrangement noting the belt routing path around the motor pulley, belt tensioner, and the drum. Inspect the drum for belt wear marks, noting approximate location on drum where belt rides. Install replacement belt by routing through pulley arrangement (ridged side of belt rides againt motor pulley), then "hang" the belt on the interior backside to enable reaching the belt after reinstalling the drum. After placing the drum edge on the rear rollers, lift the front of the drum up into position, working the belt around the drum into the drum groove. Once the belt is in the groove, the drum should stay in position without lifting from the front. Check for proper pulley routing, taking care to avoid routing the belt OVER the tensioner belt keeper, i.e., route the the belt under the belt keeper to avoid belt riding on the keeper and failing prematurely. Install the front/lint filter assembly. As you manually rotate the drum, reach along the top and side of the drum and gently pull the belt out of the groove and into its normal ride position. Install the front panel, plug the unit in, start and check for proper rotation of the drum.

The belt fell off of the drum, i have the front off but i dont know where the disconnected pulley goes.

Unplug dryer or disconnect power.

Locate mounting slots in front of motor. (In some cabinets, there are two sets of slots for mounting the idler assembly. In this case, mount the idler assembly in the slots that line up under the grooves in the motor pulley.)

Install idler assembly into cabinet base by hooking mounting tab (A) into 1⁄4" wide mounting slots and setting mounting tabs (B) into the 3⁄16" wide mounting slot.

Make sure belt is around drum, with grooves down.

Route belt through the idler and around the motor pulley.

Remove the power to the unit and the bottom access panel. Remove the front bulkhhead where the drum sits on by undoing four screws one for each corner.Verify felt seal on exhaust fan cover is airtight on flange of duct. If seal is installed improperly air flow will be restricted which can cause poor dryer performance.Belt must be positioned around cylinder between center and rear bafflescrews with the ribbed surface against the cylinder. You gotta push up on the spring loaded idler pulley the easily slip on the belt to the motor shaft. make sure that the ribbed part of the belt wraps around the drum and motor shaft and not kinked.
