Black Streaks on Edges of Paper

Black streaks from toner on edges of paper when printing. About 1 inch wide on left, and just a trace on right.
Can this be fixed or is it time for new printer?

Re: Black Streaks on Edges of Paper

This can be one of two

Print cartridge (you can do it, replace toner cartridge)

or Fuser (needs to go to doctors)

stop a print half way threw to confirm that it is print cartridge, good chance it is.

Why i get black streaks on paper in laser printer prints?

there are some possibilities for this problem. i will explain it. 1) First of all check out if the toner is full ,half or near to empty. There is no exact procedure to check the powder left in the toner without opening the toner.but in one toner there comes about near to 1500 copies.if you have got about 1200 to 1300 copies.then its quite possible that the power left is near to empty so the streaks comes on the paper due to less powder left.many times in this case removing and shaking the toner then reinserting the toner again and checking the printout helps. 2) But if you are sure that toner is not empty then other possibility the toner cartridge there is a aluminium drum.its easily seen in the cartridge.once you remove the cartridge. if that drum is got very much used then due to that drum the streaks example.if the drum is new the print is very dark.if the drum gets old the print gets very light or with streaks or faded print. 3) Now if drum and toner powder both are proper and still the problem then its the fault in the your printer there is some toner powder got spilled out on the inner parts from where the printing paper when the paper passes from the part where the powder is fallen or got collected then the streaks this case the printer needs internal cleaning and servicing. 4) but in some cases it has been noticed that internal powder of the toner becomes moist and very hard to come out from the toner for this case either toner needs to be refilled or toner needs to be can get the toner refilled from local cartridge refilling store or local stationery shops dealing in cartridge refillings. The cartridge refilling shops also have the same printer for checking the at the refilling shop it will be confirmed whether the fault is in cartridge or printer.
This will help. Thanks .

Printing black

is the copy/print full black or have streaks or have dots, or ...

First, remove the toner crg., and check the drum surface if it has toner leftovers or spots or streaks, or... if so replace the toner crg.

btw. It also can be the fixing unit, but if these is the problem then the toner will not be "baked" on paper and it can be wide solid black stripe on corner.

Hope that helps!

White bands on color photo prints

Perform Print Head Alignment Instructions to perform a Print Head Alignment directly from the machine. If diagrams or ruled lines are misaligned, print head alignment is required. The print head alignment can be performed automatically or manually. If the automatic print head alignment does not work, adjust the print head manually. Automatic Print Head Alignment
  1. Press <ON/OFF> to turn on the machine.

  2. Load a few sheets of letter-sized plain paper in the auto sheet feeder.

  3. Press the Open button to open the Paper Output Tray. Then open up and set the extension by pressing down the hollow on the front side.

  4. Execute automatic print head alignment.
    1. Press <COPY> button.
    2. Press <Menu> repeatedly to select [MAINTENACE].
    3. Press the left or right cursor to select [AUTO HEAD ALIGN], then press the <OK>. (A pattern is printed and the print head is automatically aligned. It takes about five minutes to finish printing the pattern.)

Manual print head alignment
  1. Press <ON/OFF> to turn on the machine.

  2. Load two sheets of Letter-sized plain paper in the auto sheet feeder or cassette.

  3. Ensure that the proper paper source is selected.

  4. Execute manual print head alignment.
    1. Press <Menu> repeatedly to select [MAINTENACE].
    2. Press the left or right cursor to select [ALIGN PRINT HEAD], then press the <OK>. (The nozzle check pattern is printed.)

  5. Check the printed patterns and use the left or right arrow to input the number of the pattern in column A that has the least noticeable streaks.

  6. Press <OK> to move the cursor to column B, and then use the left or right arrow to input the number of the pattern that has the least noticeable streaks.

  7. Repeat the procedure until you finish inputting the pattern number for column P.

  8. When you have finished inputting all pattern numbers, press <OK>.

Note: For columns A through N select the patterns with the least visible vertical streaks. For columns O and P select the patterns with the fewest visible horizontal streaks.

<1> Example of the pattern with the fewest visible vertical streak

<2> Example of the pattern with the most visible vertical streak

<1> Example of the pattern with the fewest visible horizontal streak

<2> Example of the pattern with the most visible horizontal streak

I hope it helps!!!

Most of the time when I find this happening on a printer, not just Ricoh's it turns out to be the PCU (photo conductor unit). The color PCU is one unit and the black is a seperate unit. Hope this helps.
