Question about Compaq Laptop Keyboard for HP Pavilion DV9000 - DV9700
So my computer's screen is pure black even thought the keyboard lights up and you can hear that the computer is running. Called HP they said they cannot help me cuz i am not under warranty anymore. I already tried 'resetting the memory' and 'draining any residual battery' like it says to do on the HP tech support website and nothing has helped so far. Wondering if anyone has any solutions..????
Just got my computer back from repairing the nvidia heat problem. Seems there is a machine that heats the processor and melts the solder so that the chip is re attached. It works great now, but the problem will probably return. $250

I cannot solve your problem. However I have exactly the same problem with my DV9600. I can hook up an external monitor and use it as a desktop. Mine is also off warranty. I am curious if others have the same problem and if more people telling HP about this will have any effect.

The problem is the GPU, HP will fix it for free if it's less than 2 years old. You can check out www.msbin.com if it's over 2 years old. The guide will show you how to reflow the GPU with common household tool.
