Oven door stays locked light stays on all the time, oven is new only worked once, there are no buttons to open the door the lock on the door is for the self cleaning part of the oven. it worked great the...

Either the door switch has failed or the control board is not sensing the door is closed. Try turning the power off for a couple minutes and back on. The oven is supposed to go through a diagnostic cycle when the power is applied and rotate the door latch. If this doesn't help you will probably have to call for service since it is in warranty.
I will look up your model and see if there is anything else you can do that won't void your warranty.

Door stays open about 2 inches

Replacing the hinges is risky because you need to be 100% sure the new hinges go back in the exact spot the old ones were.

Otherwise, there might be leakage, which can lead to arcing and possible fire.

The exploded view / parts list is here.

If the hinges are not secure, the door may slip, which can cause leakage or failure to operate correctly.

Also, there is a bulletin about these regarding the door locking _closed_ but maybe it's applicable in this case, too.

Here's the text of the bulletin:

KitchenAid & Whirlpool Electric Wall Ovens And Dual Fuel Range

CONCERN: Error Code "F5 E1" or "F5 E7" (door latch not unlocking the door after self-clean cycle).

CAUSE: This problem is caused by defective material in the core of the solenoid on the door latch. The solenoid works properly at normal temperatures, and at the beginning of a self-clean cycle. However, when heated, the plastic core binds the metal plunger, and will not allow it to unlock at the end of a cycle. Once cooled, the solenoid will again work properly. When a technician inspects the solenoid while it is cool, it will function normally.
SOLUTION: Replace the solenoid with service solenoid #4452224.

I used my auto self clean on my whirlpool electric oven for the first time, now my oven is off, has been for 6 hrs and the door is stuck closed. how do i turn my oven back on?

Hello there and welcome to fixya
oko well to tell you the truth the cleaning cycle is the hardest cycle for the oven due to the extreem heat during the clean cycle.
Any way the way to unlock the door is as follows
unplug the oven for at least 1 hour then after the hour is over plug it back in and then you may hear a beep if so simply press the cancel button and then unlock the oven door as you would normally do now you may even have to wait for 5 min once you plug it back in but normally it works right away
Now if this doesent work than you may have a faulty controle board this is very common because of the extreem heat and some of the board parts cant take the heat whirlpool is still trying to fix this issue this has been a problem for some time ok?
any way i hope this helps please keep me posted on how this is going
Best regards Mike

Dead Whirlpool Double Oven

This happened to us the first time we used the self-cleaning feature. The repairman said we had to replace the whole electronic panel -- but when he put in the new panel it didn't work either. It turned out he just needed to replace the oven shutdown thermal fuse I believe. We finally got up enough courage to try the self-cleaning again and the exact thing happened. The door is locked and the electronic panel is dead again. So when we get it fixed we will never use the self-clean again.

Whirlpool Double Oven RBD305PDB7 - Upper Oven Won't Heat

I have the single oven of this style and I had to replace the thermocouple (part number 4450934) on the back of the oven three times (used the cleaning cycle three times). After using the cleaning cycle, the oven would not heat so each time I had to pull the oven out from the wall to access the back so I could change the part. Once a new part was put on the back of the oven, it worked fine. To pull the oven out, open the oven door and look down by the doors hinges. On each side you will see a screw that's holding the side molding on. Remove the screws and then the molding. That will give you access to the screws that hold the oven into the framing around the oven. Remove the screws and then you can pull the oven out to access the back to change the thermocouple. The oven is heavy so you may want some help to get out. It is not a one man job, maybe a one man and wife job. It is heavy. I hope this helps. Better late than never.

Oven wont work after self clean

I have a Whirlpool MOD. RBS275PDB17 single electric self-cleaning oven; although the manual is generic, it specifies, "When the cycle is completed and the oven cools, "End" will appear on the lower oven display and "LOCKED' will disappear" and "To Stop Self-Clean any time: Press UPPER/OFF, LOWER/OFF or OFF/CANCEL. If the oven temperature is too high, the door will remain locked. It will not unlock until the oven cools." Has your oven had time to cool?
