Question about Frigidaire ATF6000ES Front Load Washer

Frigidair Affinity quit spinning

I did one load of laundry this morning and it was fine. Second load- it appears that it won't drain or spin. I thought maybe the load was uneven so i took the clothes out and tried to drain the washer on the "spin only" cycle. It spun a couple times, added more water and stopped. The motor sounds fine- but its not moving and there is standing water in the machine. This washer is 13 months old. The warranty expired last month.

I think you're right about it being an issue with draining. I unplugged the machine, waited a while, and then restarted a "spin only" cyle. The machine seems to be draining very slowly. I took off the outlet pipe and checked for blockages but it seems clean. Could it be blocked somewhere internally? Also, it spun for a very very long time...much longer than normal. When i took out the clothes and loaded another load in, the machine sounded like it was draining before water ever started going into the machine. Any suggestions? Could some piece of clothing have somehow gotten into the machine?

Thank you for your suggestions. First thing this morning we are going to check to see if the pump is blocked in any way. The washer seems to be draining very slowly, almost trickling through the outlet pipe and I don't remember it being like that previously. I have tried taking off the outlet pipe and it appears to be clear so maybe the blockage is internal. If that doesn't work, then we will check the belt but it seems to spin fine again. The error code that flashed was E21. That code refers to drainage, correct?

There appeared to be a little blockage in the outlet pipe and some junk in the hose that leads into the pump so I cleaned that out and restarted the washer on the quick cycle which is 33 minutes.

The washer did fine until 17 minutes. Then it quit spinning and just sat but it sounded like it was supposed to be agitating. It stayed like that until 15 minutes and then the error code e20 appeared again. After canceling out the cycle, I ran it on "spin only" and it worked like it should- added some water, went into the spin cycle and finished. I'm not sure what this means. Do you have any ideas or is it time to call in a repairman?

Thank you. You were in the money with the fluff and other stuff blockage. The lint/coin trap was full! Your advice saved us a lot of money. We were going to have a repairman come out today but the washer runs great again. Thanks again for your help!

You said the motor sounds fine but it isnt moving
do you see anything that resembles a belt anywhere
the pump may be belt driven in which case you will
either get a part# for the belt or get the old belt and
match it up

It osund like the machine isnt draining the water witch could be one of two things it could be that the outlet pipe is blocked between the machine and where it goes into the outlet in the wall this will need chcking and making sure there is no blockage the other problem is the pump has gone and this will cause the washing machine to cut off or there could be a build up of limescale witch could cause the machine to cut off as a safety precaution hope this helps you if you want to do it yourself you can check all pipes and remove these and replace as this is easy enough to do but to replace the pump this is an expensuve option and can be difficult to replace hope this is some help to you you could try leaving machine unplugeed for a couple of hours and this will reset the timer then try the mnachine if it is a intermitant problem then it could be that you need to replace the timer

if the machine sounded like it was trying to turn the drum ie when you said it sounded like it should be agitating the wash then this could be a problem with the belt slipping if the belt slips it will come up with an error problem do you know when it drains the water does it spin to get the water out of clothes or not the first error coed is to do with drainage so check that it is not blocked anywhere in the pipes but if like you said that the machine sounded like it should be agitating the wash then it could be one of two things it could be either the belt has become strtched or brittle and is slipping during wash or spin cycle or it could be that the bearing on the drum is on its way out and needs replacing this you cant do yourself as they need a puller to get old bearing off but first i would check for blockages as if the water stands in the machine after the drain cycle it will cut off so if you are sure of no blockages and still plays up then i would call someone out to check the belt and bearing foy sorry couldnt be anymore help good luck

it could still be something blocked i have contacted a few friends who know about this and they said it could be a build up of fluff off the clothes they said it could even be if you put something in with a string in it like tracksuit bottoms with the string that you tie up even this can work it way into drainage and block the pipe along with a build up of fluff off clothes make sure their is no blockage before you call someone out as you dont want to be charged with unblocking a pipe as their getting money for nothig just make sure you check properly for blockages before you think about calling someone out you could even look in local phone book and some people will come out and give you a free estimate therfore they tell you what problem is and you can decide wether you let them do it or as they have told you what is wrong maybe you could even do it yourself hope this is some help good luck

All w/machines have a maximum load capacity. Look for yours in the users'manual. Overloading could give you problems, bearings, etc. Your machine cld even have a half load switch.
