If your brushes need replacing, they are within the motor, inside the cleaner. Unless the cleaner is old, say more than 5 years, or has been used very frequently, I would be surprised if the brushes need replacing. What symptoms do you have?

Hoover 8+spin1600 forever banging when spinning16

Hi! If your unit is noisy while the brushes are spinning this can mean that your brushes are worn or damaged. Try removing the brushes by pushing the two brush release buttons at the same time. Turn the cleaner on and see if the noise persists. If the noise stops with the brushes removed, you will need to replace your brushes. I have included a link below where you may go to purchase a replacement brush roll if needed. Hope this helps!

Brushes not turning, 2 inch piec on one brush in place, the housing is spinning but not turning brushes

Hello there! It sounds like you may need to replace your brush block assembly. Try turning that drive shaft connected to the middle brush. All the brushes should be able to do a full turn simultaneously. If the brushes get stuck and cant make a full turn or if all of the brushes aren't spinning together then your brush block will need to be replaced. To purchase a replacement brush block simply follow the link below. Hope this was helpful!

My brush bar keeps falling down. We replaced motor but now the brushes don't spin.

Hi! If you've replaced the turbine & gear assembly and the brushes are still not spinning, a replacement brush-block assembly may be needed. The brushes counter rotate and need each other to spin. If a single brush is falling out, the brush assembly is broken. If the whole brush assembly keeps falling out, the drive pin shaft may be damaged. To order a replacement brush-block follow the link below.

Brush won't spin when carpet cleaner is running

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
If the vacuum cleaner brush is not spinning, the brushroll bearing might be jammed. Try removing the brushroll assembly and cleaning all hair, string, lint, etc. from the brushroll bearing. If that doesn't solve the problem the brushroll may need to be replaced.

Air driven turbo brush

Is this the Lightning model? How old is it? You may have to just replace the belt.

Also, the front brush motor will not engage until the power is turned on and the handle is in the down position. In the upright position the brush motor wont engage. Typical faults will be the belt is broken and needs replacing or the fornt brush motor needs replacing.

I replaced the clutch in the dyson dc14. it isnt making that terrible noise anymore....thank god!! but the roller brush is not moving when the vacuum is in use. whats wrong?

The "horrible noise" you were hearing before wasn't the clutch! It was the roller brush. If the brush is not turning, all you are doing is burning out your new clutch. Reasons for the brush not turning: there is hair, carpet fiber or other matter wrapped around the brush that needs to be removed. Remove the roller brush, inspect it, and remove anything that could interfer with it's functioning. Reinstall and give it a test.

But in my experience, the brush needs to be replaced. Remove the brush and look for cracks in the plastic, If you see any, it needs replacing. eBay, via a distributor from England, is your best bet as far replacing the brush. Be careful of non-original brushes as they will break easily and are not of the same quality as the originals. Try searching for "DC14 brushroll" and then go down to the International Sellers at the bottom of the page.

Do not continue using the vac until you have solved the problem. You will only have to replace the clutch again.
