Kodak easyshare 5300 Message: Printhead is not installed correctly. Continue to get message after reinstalling.

More than likely you have a faulty print head. You can go to Kodak online troubleshooting. After you runa a few of their fixes, they will send you a new one if it's under warranty or recall. The did mine, plus manually walked through fixing the software to correct the issue after all that. The unistall doesn't always remove everything, so there are some files that have to be maunally deleted and other "techincal" stuff.

Hi there

You need to look at the print head it not in place or moved out of place a little bit, if you know how it comes out then take out gave it a clean up and reset it in place.

Just installed new printhead and new black and colored ink cartridges. I do not have a calibration calibration sheet any longer. This is for Kodak easyshare 5300 printer.RAU


When you install new printhead in the printer, you will get a message" New printhead detected ,load papers in paper tray and press start. If u do not get this message,that means you have not installed printhead properly. Visit www.kodak.com/go/printheadsupport and click on 3 rd link installing or replacing a printhead to see how to install printhead correctly

Try this one
Take out the inks and printhead
Leave the cartridge door open, then unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while the access door is open
Close the cartridge door once the cord is unplugged
Reconnect the powercord, turn on the printer, then your printer will look for your printhead "Printhead missing or not installed correctly..."
Then put everything back. make sure it will snap in to place. Then print a calibration page, then scan it. This is just over writing the error message.

Error message re printhead.


To resolve the error condition:
  1. Open the printer access door.
  2. Remove the color and black ink cartridges.
  3. Remove, then reinstall the printhead

You need a new printhead from Kodak AiO support. After that is in and you do not have the error message anymore, download the latest firmware at www.kodak.com/go/5300downloads

Newly installed and getting error on printhead and ink cartridges


If that error happens every single time you turn on the printer, that pirnthead is faulty.
But if the error only happens some times, try a firmware update from www.kodak.com/go/downloads

A paper jam error message will appear if the printhead is not correctly installed. Try removing and reinstalling the printhead again, but make sure it snaps into place. Try loading a sheet of plain paper and press at the same time copy+cancel; hold them down until the printer feeds the paper. The paper will go through the rollers and come out blank.
