Question about Panasonic DMR-E55 DVD Recorder
I have AT&T Motorola Uverse, but can't get anything to record to the disc. Error message says copyright protected. My dvd recorder is a combo vcr and dvd recorder model DMR-EZ48V. I use to have a samsung recorder with same problem. Thought it was the player but I just dont know. I hear people say all over internet theres a problem and some say they have a fix but i am unsure if someone got it to work or not. So whats the deal, how can i record shows and put them onto dvd.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Your DMR is telling you that it is set to listen for RC2 but your remote is transmitting RC1.
Two choices for a fix:
1. Put the remote back into RC2 mode by simply holding both the ENTER and 2 button for at least 5 seconds.
2. Reconfigure the DMR to listen for RC1 by going into the function menus and selecting SETUP. Look for the remote control option. Change it to 1, it will currently display the value 2.

I figured out, unlike all the other posts, you don't have an enter button. But Instead, you would hit the 2 and OK button at the same time for a few seconds. I had the RC1 message and I did the 1 with OK and it worked. so if you have RC2, you should hit the 2 and OK. Should work!!

Check Panasonic.com for Firmware updates. If it has a reset button reset it. Take off the cover remove dust and lint, also clean laser eye with rubbing alcohol. DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE LASER LENS IF YOU PLUG IT IN, DURING THE OPERATION.

You need to install or update the Firmware. Go to www.panasonic.ca and search your model. You will then need to download the firmware for your player and burn it/mount it as an ISO file on to cd. Just follow the instructions and you'll be up and running in no time.
It took me about 25min, but it is working fine now.
