The filter should go into the wall jack, and the dsl modem should go into the "DSL" port of the filter, and the fax should go into the "Phone" port of the filter.

Also make sure that all other telephones in the house are connected to filters :)

When my home phone rings my internet disconnects

You need to make sure that you have an ADSL line filter connected before any home telephone or DECT base station (eg. a filter is required on the line between your physical telephone device and phone socket). This can also be achieved via a central ADSL phone line splitter.

---------- ADSL Filter -----> Telephone Handset 1 or DECT base station
<--- main telephone line --/
\-----------------------------------> ADSL Modem/Router ---> Computer
\----------ADSL Filter -----> Telephone Handset 2

Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

The main tel line goes into 2way splitter one for high speed internet, the 2nd goes to mx 310 canon all in one , can send fax but i cant receive any , i tried my level best with out...

do you have a filter on the line? usually, you need a filter to keep the phone and data sides separate. Fax machines are generally treated as phone devices. If you are in the US, ask around, chances are somebody has a filter you can use, I know I've probably got half a dozen in a box somewhere from every time I've had dsl set up.

Constant static and noise on the cordless, have not had this problem with other phones in the same location. I have tried the frequency scan- no difference. The noise is so bad the cordless cannot be used.

Hooking up mx310 all in one

The phone line should plug directly into the Line plug on the DSL modem and the all-in-one should plug into the Phone plug next to it. If you need to split the line do it AFTER the line comes out of the Phone plug.

Do you have a distinctive ring pattern in the same phone line
If no then you need to get a distinctive rig pattern from your service provider, which will differenciate the type of rings for phone and fax.
If you have a distinctive ring pattern make sure which one it has single rings, double rings, triple rings and double and triple rings.
To enable> First make sure auto answer in turned On
In setup/Menu go to > Rings to answer and set it to 5 or 6, and make sure the rings to answer in you answering machine set to 4(Always Should be lower then you rings to answer in the fax)
In Advance Fax setup> Then Ring pattern should be setup for the one which you service provider as given either double or triple Rings>
And the go to tools and run fax test and check what has failed

HISSS on line; no dial-tone; no fax in or out

it sounds like you may not have any dial tone. the hiss [white noise] you are hearing is from the dsl modem.try plugging a regular corded phone into the jack to check for dial tone.if there is none,call your phone company.also try plugging the fax machine into another jack where you know there is dial tone.
good luck
