when i power on my cyber-shot W70 the screen shows switch on and off the power but the camera still does not work

  • meetmanish Dec 03, 2007

Even I have the same Problem.

In addition to this Problem, the Lens of my camera does not go back in its original position when the Camera is switched off...

Dont know what the issue is.

Note : I have a habit of switching off-and-on my camera as soon as I am done with taking a pic, I switch it off..and then turn on when save battery...I am wondering if this has caused the Problem..

But I have done so for a year now......and now I have the Problem..

    Any Solution ...........????

I have the same problem!! I turn it on and it beeps "turn power on and
off again" and when i turn it off the shutter does not go back
in. I've called tech support and they told me to take out the
battery and reset it by holding down the power buttong for one minute,
but that did nothing. I've also tried the suggestions here of
pulling the shutter in and out and "tapping" the lens, but i just don't
think I know what I'm doing. It's 2 months out of warranty and I
really don't want to pay $180 for servicing! Any help?

The same was happening to me .... what I did is to open the camera, unscrew the lens, then move it kindly and screw it back again then I cleaned the camera with compressed air, and put everything back. Now is working like it was originally!

I'm not the original poster of this problem, but I have the same one. It does it when you try to turn the camera on to take a picture. I'm still able to review all of my stored photos, I just can't take new ones.

Well like most of us have this problem

apparently i have some bad news , its the lense which is misaligned or broken in terms of gears, the thing to do turn on the camera and make sure that lens is out and then LIGHTLY tapp on the lens the direction of which you feel that the lens is not equal legnth to the outer ring > place that looks uneven

Another thing is that it might be a internal memory error try using a memory stick pro duo or formatting the camera by going into settings and select intizialise , it will reset the camera

  • Tech_PC Dec 10, 2007

or found in formatting internal memory in the menu

I had same problem, I found another fix and tried that, it worked. As the lens starts coming out, I gently held it & pulled slightly. The lens stayed open and the camera was working again.

I keep getting a Card Access Error message on my Sharp VE-CG40U, what could be causing this?

Actually, you didn't. You put in a new 4GB SDHC card. The camcorder works with SD cards, not with SDHC cards. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Sony dsc w50 quit working

I think the memory card is full , try first taking off the battery and putting it back.
If the camera still does not work, try a different memory card.

If you still have problems, try going to setting menu and reset camera settings.

Lens Error. Restart Camera. Camera gives this error message and then shuts off. I can't access photos or function buttons. What can I do?

Press the "MENU" button and navigate to the reset command and reset the camera. That may get the camera to function properly.

Blue screen access error when viewing or taking pics or vids

Please try to take as many pictures from memory stick as you can then format memory stick through format option in setup.
Hope this will resolve this blue access issue.
You can use another memory stick like 1GB in this camera.

I receive ''access'' error

The "Access" will stay there until your camera passes it's self lens test. The test runs 3 times, then gives up with an error message. The cause of this problem is most likely a grain of sand somewhere in the lens. Only a camera tech could possibly ever hope to find it. Replace the camera lens.

Error message

my camera did the same thing, lens retracts 3 or 4 times, and then proceeded with an error message "turn off and on again". I pressed the power button probably about 10 times, didn't work, so then i gave it a good smack on the top of the frame a few times while repeatedly pressing the power button and it did the trick. Hasn't gave me problems since...hope it helps
