What do you mean by not being able to restart and what operating system do you have? you can format the magic jack itself to reset it. open my computer and look for a drive that says vista or phone, right click and format. Then install any updates. let me know if you need anything else

Now restart your magicJack, by following the steps above.
For error 1
If you hear error 1 while trying to place a call with your magicJack, it means that you are not connected to the Internet.
To resolve this, make sure that one end of the ethernet cable is plugged into your modem/router/switch and the other end into your magicJack.
You also need to make sure that your modem/router/switch is powered on and that the port you have connected the magicJack to is functioning correctly.
