Hi, If you re-installed the XP on the computer. You can check if the wireless adapter is recognized. Just follow the steps below:
  1. Click on start
  2. Right-click on My Computer and choose properties.
  3. redmatrix_12.jpgthen click on Hardware tab and then device manager.
  4. Next is on the device manager. look for other devices.redmatrix_13.jpgthis where the wireless is usually located, try to look for Other Devices on the list, and under it there should be Network controller. with a question mark. That indicated that the wireless is not yet installed.
  5. What you need to do is to log on to Toshiba Website to download the drivers using a different computer and you also need a flash/thumb drive to transfer it to your computer.
Hope this helps. THank you for using Fixya, you recommendation is highly appreciated for the free support.

Lost my wireless connection [due to virus I think], have done a complete reformat of xp pro, everything gone and a fresh install from my XP CD, I got wireless working for a short time after installing all...

Ensure that the wireless network adapter is enabled. You can get there from My Network Places ' Properties or the control panel. If it is enabled, you should have an icon in the systray for the wireless adapter. Right click on the icon and select View Wireless Networks to select a wireless network to connect to.

My printer is not connecting wireless from my comp. I brought it over from my parents house to my new place and it wont work.

For installing a wireless printer on Windows XP, wireless router is an essential device.

Follow the recommended steps mentioned on the installation CD of the router, and set-up a wireless network.

Since several computers or laptops will access the printer, it is recommended to connect the wireless printer to the main computer through the USB port.

To begin the installation process on Windows XP, access the network setting in the Control Panel, and activate the file and printer sharing option in the LAN setting.

This will allow the operating system to recognize the availability of a wireless printer.

Now, click the Start button, go to Devices and Printers, select Add a Printer option.

Click the second option- Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

The computer will search for available printer and reflect it on the screen.

Click Finish; and the printer is ready to begin the printing process.

Problems to configue network controller in IBM T42

There are several different LAN, wireless, & modem devices that are installed on the T40 series laptops. For example, if one of the network driver or modem driver doesn't work then install a different one. Make sure you download all the various device drivers for your model laptop and the XP version of those driver.

Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP device drivers for your model laptop,

Acer 4520 Booting Problem.

i would suggest to uninstall and reinstall the drivers of your network adapter, or it would be best if you install the latest drivers for it. no need to format the HD.
if you feel that formating is needed, it would also work but that takes a lot of work.

hope this helps. :)
